Tornabuoni Art is pleased to announce its participation in the first edition of #ArtBaselQatar, marking Art Basel’s inaugural arrival in Doha and celebrating Qatar’s artistic scene and the wider MENA region.
For this landmark edition, Tornabuoni Art presents a comprehensive survey of Alighiero Boetti’s textile practice, the result of his lifelong collaboration with Afghan craftspeople.
Through his close collaboration with Afghan artisans, Boetti transformed traditional embroidery into a conceptual language, connecting local artisanal knowledge with a global vision of artmaking.
Illustrative of Boetti’s interest in humanity’s continuous transformation are the celebrated Mappe: a series of embroidered world maps that chart the evolution of global geopolitics through national flags, from their inception in 1971 until the artist’s passing in 1994.
'Alternandosi e dividendosi' (1988) is a striking example of the Ricami series—mosaic-like grids composed of individual letters that form words and phrases to be deciphered through an unconventional reading, from top to bottom and from left to right.

Tornabuoni Art Rome invites visitors to discover 'Emilio Isgrò. Rosso Shakespeare', currently on view at the gallery.
The exhibition offers an immersive journey into Isgrò’s multifaceted universe, shaped by his work as a visual artist, poet, writer, and narrator, and by his lifelong reflection on the power of language.
A central figure in Italian contemporary culture, Isgrò has long explored the territory between word and image. His iconic Cancellatura continues to redefine this boundary, transforming erasure into both a poetic gesture and a visual language.
At the heart of the exhibition lies a profound meditation on presence and absence. The concept of 'Var ve Yok' — in Turkish meaning “there is and there is not” — expresses a state of “being and not being” that runs throughout Isgrò’s poetics of erasure.
This series of works was first presented by Fondazione Marconi and later shown in a major retrospective at the Taksim Sanat Galerisi in 2012.
Curated by Marco Bazzini, with texts by the curator and Achille Bonito Oliva, the project was promoted by Istanbul Aydin University and COPPEM, and organized by the Centro per l’Arte Contemporanea Luigi Pecci in Prato, tracing key stages of Isgrò’s activity as an artist, poet, and writer.
Working on ancient Ottoman manuscripts, Isgrò erases and subtracts, allowing signs, Arabic characters, images, and names in the Latin alphabet to surface.
Once more, in Isgrò’s practice, denied writing becomes a space of revelation, generating a continuous dialogue across geographies, heritage, and past and present.

Through the exhibition, the Foundation invites visitors to experience a journey that goes beyond mere aesthetics, engaging the senses as well.
Polydimensionality is the key concept of ‘Fire’: not only in terms of the impressive variety of media — sculptures, paintings, photographs, videos — but also in its attempt to explore this element from every possible perspective. A complex and sometimes paradoxical ontology has characterized this element for millennia, since at least the earliest philosophical reflections.
‘Fire’ is a symbol of life, energy, and warmth, but also an emblem of death, destruction, and hell. These two opposing dimensions converge at the Boghossian Foundation in an unexpected harmony, offering visitors an intense and multisensory experience.
Tornabuoni Art is honored to take part in this project by lending the impressive works of Claudio Parmiggiani, an Italian artist who has always explored the nuances between light and shadow, spirituality and materiality.
Parmiggiani’s works in ‘Fire’ evoke a meditative dialogue with the elemental force of fire, inviting viewers to reflect on its transformative power and ephemeral beauty.

‘Vincenzo Agnetti: par cœur’ at Tornabuoni Art Paris
On the occasion of the centenary of Vincenzo Agnetti’s birth, the exhibition ‘Par Cœur’, soon at Tornabuoni Art Paris, invites visitors to rediscover the cerebral and theatrical works of the great poet of Italian art.
Agnetti stages language in his work, exploring its instability, its limits, and its evocative power.
The exhibition takes its title from the phrase “Dimenticato a memoria,” translated into French as “oublié par cœur” (“forgotten by heart”), a polysemic oxymoron that the artist unfolds across several series of works, both pictorial and sculptural.
“Culture consists in learning how to forget, exactly as when we eat,” Agnetti explains. “Food, more or less well prepared, gives us its flavor, which we quickly forget in favor of the energy we absorb.”
