The Mycena roseoflava is an exquisite fungi that I'm totally obsessed with. And yes, they are bioluminescent and no, I have no plans to return to the forest after dark to try and find and shot it. My couch is far too comfy.

Ohhhhh I was so tempted to composite this shot with a starry sky, but aside from that not being my approach, I think that it would take the focus away from the cute button fungi surrounding our "tree".

The tree of course is some tiny coral fungi found on an old log. So much character. I just love it.

Sometimes when looking through files at home, after returning from the forest, there are moments of noticing something I was completely oblivious to in the field.

Today it was the sprinkle of what I assume are slime moulds in the background of these pixies. On the second image of this carousel you can pinch to zoom and reveal what I'm talking about.

Unfortunately, because I never saw it with my own eyes at the time, I didn't have the chance to take out the ultra macro lens for a super close up. Grainy pixels will have to do.

After an unseasonal side mish to Indonesia, my 2026 mushie escapades finally started today with a visit to my favourite local forest. And it didn't disappoint.
.
I was treated to an array of colours but you know what I'm there for. The Mycena interrupta / Pixie Parasols are what it's all about for me. That blue!
.
I particularly loved this specimen as the blue was so subtle, with only a few vein like hints.
.
I look forward to resuming regular mushroom posts as my fungi adventures continue for the next six months.
