Another wip update. Took a break from Deathguard but Trench Crusade got me back into monster painting. Mostly playing with colors.
Also trying out Gilded Goblin brushes i paid for. Theyre decent. The seem like weasel hair watercolor brushes. More on them after 100 hours of painting or so. Seems good but not amazing.

Skullforge Studios MCV Kreiger bot with stuff glued on. Kimera paints from Dracoya. Spraygunner metals. Dirty Down rust.

Something something sassy goat noises.

A lot can happen between "I feel like people would like this" and "holy shit, this is actually a company."

Over the years, Goblin's Hut has taken me to conventions all over the country, introduced me to incredible hobbyists, retailers, creators, and friends, and given me opportunities I never could have imagined when I started painting my 'Covid Daemons' in 2020.

Back then, I didn't aspire to do anything more than share my love for all things gritty, grimey, and gorey. By doing so I found people who didn't just share that interest but also shared their wisdom, talents, and efforts to help make Goblin's Hut what it is today. None of this happened alone.

Every event, every late night packing preorders, every retailer that took a chance on us, every celebratory meal, art commisison, cosplay visit, and hobbyist who supported us along the way, you helped build this.

Today, thanks to, Goblin's Hut gets a new logo.

Not because we're becoming something different, but because we've grown into something bigger than I ever expected.

The logo may be new, but the mission hasn't changed:

Share the excitement I first felt when I discovered these products. Support and live vicariously through the artists, instructors, creators, and hobbyists who make amazing stuff. And gross a few people out along the way.

The truth is, sometimes I still feel like the guy giggling while painting thinking, "I can't wait to show them this."

Thank you for being part of the journey so far. There are far too many people to tag. If you know, you know. And I wish I had taken more pictures of us all together when I had the chance.

Thank you.

The logo is new.

The goblin isn't.

See you at the next con!

WIP Court Sorcerer of Avarice - tabletop HQ for Trench Crusade. Minor kitbashing.

Snake guts weiner thing changed to a hook. And I carved an equilateral triangle into his chest. The in-universe symbol of greed.

My warband will submerge themselves and their victims in molten gold. They seek to guild their twisted forms as to better inspire worship from their ravenous, jealous and fickle followers.

Warbands of Avarice are less a unified group and more of a temporary collective of wretched, greedy souls. Infighting, backstabbing, and lying are the defacto operation. #trenchcrusade #minipainting #tabletopgames
Welcome to round 3 or 4 of 'Leef Leaps Before Looking!' This time I'm apologizing to!

So this looked AI as heck. But it's not. GW clarified this on their Horus Heresy Facebook group. Their art team regularly uses PS paintover of figure photos and has been for years. This seems to be a worst case scenario of digital art having a clear hallmark of AI processing - extra fingers.

How did it get there? It wouldn't have been on the model. My guess is they painted over a finger, moved the layer around, then kept working. The extra finger ends up baked into the work result.

Oof. No shade on their artists. Maybe a bit of shade on whomever approved art that has errors similar to AI output.

So I posted this. Got a ton of INTENSE engagement and learned a few things.

1. People are fairly polarized about GW. Shoutout to the people who said 'yo check your sources' and linked me to their explanation. Most everyone else started shouting at me and each other. Phew.

2. People are understandably upsetti spaghetti over AI products. Myself included. Its not art. Its a bad stylistic kitbash that seeks to undermine human value. Art can only be done by humans. Because art is emotional, which happens at the intersection of our bodies and psyche.

3. GW has made plenty of poor decisions but as far as I can tell they haven't broken the AI art redline that their CEO instilled. So props (as of post date).

4. I was wrong. I'm gonna get things wrong. Ill apologize but Im not gonna thuroughly research a statement made while punching up against some affluent corporation. Again, I DO APOLOGIZE over calling this AI art.

5. Some of you are holding me up to high standards and that blows my mind.

So that's it I got it wrong again. Sorry GW. I guess everyone can continue yelling at each other now. #aiart #warhammer #marketingfail
Steel Rif! And I assembked them in game configuration! Ah, as a sorta appreciation for their kits. I keep chopping them up for kitbashing. Not these!

They're pretty cool models. And I'm sure the game is playable.

Probably the last robots for a bit.

Lazy award post! Apparently, Cult of Paint gave this a bronze!

I painted this for a client who loves Slayer. They had a DVD of the 'War At The Warfield' concert, where I stole the lighting. So this is 'based' on a 'true story'. 👍

Thanks to the community for liking this! My ultimate goal would be to get this in front of Slayer themselves! ☠️

Peace!

Hexwraith Vampire Lord, 2022.

Great atmosphere and sloppy technical work. Still quite happy with it.
