📍The Skyline Loop at Mount Rainier National Park
A 5.5-mile trail, starting at the Paradise Visitor Center that offers breathtaking panoramic views of Mount Rainier, alpine meadows, waterfalls, and glaciers.
Along the way, you’ll pass scenic viewpoints like Panorama Point, where, on a clear day, you can see Mount St. Helens, Mount Adams, and even Mount Hood in the distance.
The trail is moderately challenging with some steep sections but is well worth the effort for the spectacular views of the surrounding peaks and valleys. It’s an unforgettable adventure for hikers seeking an iconic trail.

📍 Stop 3: Sand Hollow State Park
Go off-roading on the red sand dunes, swim or paddle board in the blue water during warmer months.
📍 Stop 4: Red Cliffs Desert Reserve
Hike the Red Reef Trail, an easy to moderate 2.2 mile hike that takes you to a stunning red rock canyon!
📍 Stop 5: Snow Canyon State Park
Rent e-bikes, hike the Petrified Dunes, and explore Scout Cave.
📍 Stop 6: Gunlock
Take to the trails on horse back! I definitely recommend going for sunset, the views from the ranch were incredible! Also explore nearby Gunlock State Park.

Explore local galleries and sculptures tucked between the red cliffs.

Stop 1: Lake O’ the Pines
Surrounded by tall pines, it’s a great spot for fishing, kayaking, or simply winding down the day with a sunset over the water.
Stop 2: Jefferson, Texas
This historic East Texas town is known for its brick-lined streets, architecture, and some of the best antiquing in the state.
Stop 3: Uncertain, Texas
A little town on the edge of Caddo Lake, where you can hop on a sunrise boat tour to watch the mist roll across the cypress-lined waters. We booked our tour with Shady Glades!
Stop 4: Caddo Lake State Park
Packed with trails through mossy cypress trees and lakeside views, it’s the perfect stop for a hike before exploring the water by canoe or kayak.
Stop 5: Marshall, Texas
A cultural hub in East Texas, Marshall is home to fascinating museums, live music, and a rich history that’s easy to dive into for an afternoon.
Stop 6: Bear Creek Smokehouse
Family-owned since 1943, this was one of the first smokehouses in East Texas, serving up legendary smoked meats and trust us, it was sooo good! 😋
Stop 7: Nacogdoches, Texas
Known as the oldest town in Texas, Nacogdoches is full of history, charming streets, and beautiful gardens. It’s a great place to slow down, wander downtown, and learn about Texas history.
Stop 8: Caddo Mounds State Historical Site
An important Native American site that offers a powerful look into the history of the Caddo people. Walking the grounds gives you a deeper appreciation for the culture and stories that shaped this region long before Texas became Texas.
