Each thought we have triggers electrical and chemical messengers in the brain, which then fires messages to other areas of the body.
An example? Ok, let’s say you’re about to go on stage for a speech, and you begin to think about all the people in the audience and you start worrying. What happens? Your thoughts then send messengers around the body, which are received by different cells. How does it present? Stress, nerves such as butterflies in tummy, racing heart beat or that sudden urge to wee/poop, clammy hands, dry throat, jitters… Your thoughts manifested physically.
Well, it’s also the same thing with skin. When we have intrusive thoughts or become stressed and emotional, our brain fires up and this same process cascades through to the skin cells. This extra stress can lead to physical manifestations such as dry, flaky, eczematic/ psoriatic lesions, hot flushing of the cheeks, acne lesions erupting puffy/ dark under eye areas etc.
I can’t tell you how many steroid courses I took in my life before the penny dropped and I learnt that the only way out was going to be re-wiring my brain and signals to/ from it! Reducing stress, eating less inflammatory foods, taking time out to quieten the mind, finding a re-energising hobby (other than bottomless brunches 😂).
I’m not here to tell you I’m completely eczema free now, because I’m not. But I’m 99% clear and I’ve learnt to read my skin symptoms as a sign that I need to stop and reset because something isn’t working out!

And upon self reflection, I’m going to put it down to all the recent universal energy… Over the last few weeks we have noticed our clients (and ourselves) have been really stirred up. Pain tolerance has been lower, easily frustrated, reduced patience with results, skin conditions flaring, tattoos taking a little longer to heal than usual, all over the place when chatting away. We get it! There’s definitely been something in the air. (And if you’re also in the beauty industry or nurturing/ health care professions, you will probably be nodding your head in agreeance right now.)
With these turbulent emotions from the solar eclipse period dispersing, I’m going to say that I was compelled to cleanse! Get rid of the surplus hairs that were weighing my eyes and face down (which is obviously a representation of whatever other burdens and weights I’ve been carrying??).
Normally I hold onto every Brow hair and keep them big, bold, BADDIES, maximising fullness and fluff. But last night, nooooo, last night I decided to flirt with fire and thin these puppies out. Strip them back again. Not only that, I was also brave enough to tint as well 🙈🙈 (Allergy girl here, but have test patched some products which haven’t reacted so decided to give them a whirl on my full Brows.)
And….. I forgot how good it feels to take care of yourself! Feeling super rejuvenated and able to let go of the old, and bring in the new. That clean lower Brow line 😍😍😍 All them stray hairs harbouring stories from their life cycle! Cleansed and freshened 🧼 Now if only I can apply that to my office, wardrobe and Tupperware draw (we all have one of them right?!), they’d be looking as clean girl aesthetic as my Brows!

Have you been using too much?
✔️ The client metabolises pigment fast so we switched to a deeper colour as darker pigments take longer to break down in the sun. Which she was also keen to do because she was previously a blondey but has decided to stay brunette, so is happy to match the depth.
✔️ We usually fade maybe 1-2cm of the fronts of the Brows so that the inner bulb (area closest to bridge of nose) is ombréd starting from less pigment and going to stronger pigment towards the rest of the Brow, but this year she decided to switch from an ombré powder Brow with faded fronts to a full powder Brow with stronger fronts, however not a harsh line. Once healed, these Brows will be exactly that (you can see we have still dusted around 2-3mm of the very fronts to prevent the solid line upon healing).
✔️ The client noticed more asymmetry when the tattoo is faded, as the natural hair growth pattern tends to make one Brow higher and one lower, one thicker and one thinner. So she request that we re-enforce her shape which gives the illusion of a more symmetrical Brow and creates facial harmony.
