Shooting from a fixed seat at Old Trafford is never easy. You’re stuck in one position, limited angles, people standing up in front of you, the usual. But I always try to work around it and get a bit of variety — players in motion, the crowd, the little details around the stadium, the atmosphere as much as the action itself
Had to leave a bit early unfortunately, but glad to see we ran out 1-0 winners. Bryan Mbeumo with the goal, and Carlos Baleba making his debut. He looked proper class the moment he came on. Completely changed the game for us in my opinion — more control, more energy, just that bit of quality in midfield we needed

After the heavens opened this morning, Manchester was full of puddles, reflections and little scenes just waiting to be captured. So that became today’s photography mission.
I decided to strip things back and shoot exclusively on my phone. A little bit of nostalgia, really, considering that’s where my photography journey started all those years ago.
When it came to editing, I wanted to keep things simple and give the images a noir, film-like feel. Less colour, more mood, and a slightly different way of looking at the city.
I know this set won’t be for everyone, but photography is as much about experimenting and trying new things as it is about finding your own style.
So, what do you reckon? Am I onto something, or should I stick to what I know? 👀

This was taken on Cambridge Street, just after a proper Manchester downpour, as the sun started breaking through the clouds.
Swipe to see the original shot alongside the image I had in my head when I pressed the shutter.
The raw image captures the scene, but I could already see the contrast, the deep shadows, the glow of the sunlight and the reflection in the water. I wanted to give it that gritty, almost film-noir feel, with the light doing most of the work.
For me, photography isn’t just about recording what’s in front of you. It’s about how you interpret it, what catches your eye and how you want someone else to feel when they look at the finished image.
Same street, same moment, two different ways of seeing it.

Away from the big landmarks and polished facades, you find places like this. Old brick, battered shutters, graffiti, fire escapes, cables and signs that have been hanging around for years.
And tucked away on Soap Street is a genuine Manchester institution, This & That.
Established in 1984, This & That is a family-run curry café that has become famous for its “rice & three”, a plate of rice topped with your choice of three curries. It’s widely regarded as the home, or at least the birthplace, of the Manchester rice & three tradition.
The story goes that the name itself came from customers pointing at the dishes and asking for “some of this and some of that” before the rice & three became a Manchester staple. The café grew out of a Northern Quarter shaped by the city’s textile industry and the South Asian communities who came to work and build lives here.
Today, despite the Northern Quarter around it changing almost beyond recognition, This & That remains tucked away down Soap Street, still serving homemade curries from the same little backstreet setting.
And that’s exactly why I wanted to photograph it.
Manchester isn’t just its landmarks. It’s the places tucked down the alleys that tell some of the best stories.

Tucked away behind Bridge Street, Hollins Chambers dates back to 1925, originally serving as offices for the Hollins law firm. The building sits within a little network of hidden passages and back streets that feel a world away from the polished city centre just a few metres away.
Before Hollins Chambers was built, this site was home to the Cheshire Tavern, which stood here during the 19th century. The passageway itself has an even older story, with the route once leading into a collection of courtyards rather than continuing through to Wood Street as it does today.
It’s exactly the sort of Manchester I love photographing.
Old brick. Wet cobbles. Dark alleyways. Signs that have probably been there longer than some of the buildings now towering over the city.
You don’t always need the skyline to tell the story of Manchester.
Sometimes you just need to turn down the right alley.

Sunlight House on Quay Street has been watching over the city since 1932. Designed and developed by the brilliant (and slightly larger-than-life) Joseph Sunlight, this Grade II listed Art Deco beauty was Manchester’s tallest office building when it was completed — and claimed as Northern England’s first true skyscraper
Joseph (born Joseph Zchovsky in Belarus) was inspired by the soaring commercial towers of New York and Chicago. He originally dreamed of something much taller, but the finished 14-storey building, clad in Portland stone with its distinctive turrets, dormers and mansard roof, still became an instant landmark. Nearly a century later, after careful restoration, it continues to stand proud in the heart of the city

There’s something quietly magical about finding a perfect frame by accident. Standing on the bridge on Oxford Road, peering through the tangle of love locks that have claimed every inch of the railings, the city suddenly narrows into this narrow corridor of water and light
The Rochdale Canal stretches out ahead, dark and glassy, catching every streetlamp and the soft pink glow of Deansgate Square in the distance. Those three towers rising at the end of the canal look almost unreal at dusk — like they’ve been placed there just for this view
Manchester has a way of hiding these little pockets of romance in the most ordinary places. Between the old brick warehouses and the new glass towers, between the everyday and the unexpected, you get moments like this. Quiet. Soft. A little bit cinematic
