If you’ve been waiting to order a flag, today is a brilliant day to do it.

I just finished this custom “The World Needs Your Kindness” flag and I’d be delighted to make more. I love creating custom flags with words people want to live by, little reminders for their homes and families. As Claire said when she ordered this one for her boys, she wanted it to be “the first thing they see in the morning.”

If there’s a message you’d like stitched into fabric, I’d love to make it for you and even happier that you’re donating to.

Shop with us today, make a donation if you’re able, and help support an organisation making a real difference in the lives of so many people.

The world needs your courage. For me, just leaving the house has required a lot of courage this year, never mind returning to work with my best shop lady smile.

The shop is open again. We’ve been open for a while, but announcing we’re open again has felt impossible. It means accepting the reality of 2026, the year I thought would finally contain a healthy baby announcement, but tragically and very suddenly didn’t, and instead became about moving forward without my child again. But I started IVF again last week, and I’m smiling without it feeling like it requires every ounce of my energy, so here I am showing up online. Grief isn’t linear, but I’m trying.

I made this flag for myself. I needed some words on the wall to hold myself together as I walked into the shop.

I was delighted last week when someone asked if they could have a flag too. It was a good reminder that we have no idea what impact we have in the world simply by showing up and doing our best. Maybe I’m just running a small gift shop, but maybe I’m also brightening the small pocket of the world I inhabit, and if we all decide to do that, the whole world will be an infinitely better place.

If someone had told me this in January, I would have told them to leave me alone. I’m still finding myself bursting into tears multiple times a day as I try to deal with the grief that drenches you when you least expect it. But I’m also smiling and trying to move forward and imagine a life where there is a healthy child in my future. If that doesn’t require courage, I don’t know what does.

Wherever this message finds you in your journey, I hope you are supported by people who love you and are using whatever scaffolding you need to keep yourself together and moving forward as the world continues to spin. My infinite gratitude to those who have provided the scaffolding for me and my family to climb back into the world this year. 💙🙏🏼

Love,
Maggie May Moshe
Thinkers & Makers is currently closed.

Last Friday, our beautiful baby girl was born sleeping. This is our second stillbirth in 12 months.

The shop will be closed until further notice. Online orders will not be posted during this time.

If you would like to support us, there is a link in our bio, or you can purchase a gift voucher online to use when we return.

Right now, I honestly don’t know how to face the world. We’re taking things one day at a time.

With love,
& Joshua Moshe
I usually try to keep Thinkers & Makers a light and welcoming space. Keeping my personal life and my business more separate is something I learned after we were forced to leave Thornbury. I hope you’ll sit with me for this message and allow space for what I need to say.

The events in Bondi this week have been devastating. It was an attack on the Jewish community, and a reminder that violence of this kind threatens the safety of every Australian.

I want to talk about. When it was released in August, I felt terrified to share it. My own experiences with antisemitism have made me cautious. We received unkind messages almost immediately, and the book and its contributors were attacked online. When people asked me, “Is it good?” I struggled to answer. Good? It’s necessary and important. I always say, don’t try to read it all at once. Have a cup of tea, or a bar of chocolate nearby.

I read it and cried for the women inside. So many moments felt familiar. and have edited the book into something they should be incredibly proud of.

This week, our community is grieving lives taken in a horrific and violent way, while also carrying the weight of the past two years. The sadness, anger, and determination to endure and thrive in Australia has been present in every conversation.

“Hello, how are you?”
“I’m… not good. Are any of us?”

That has been the refrain all week.

The women who shared their stories in Ruptured are brave, raw, and deeply personal. These stories matter. They offer a glimpse into our lives and what it has taken to keep going.

If you want to understand what this time has felt like, this book is a place to start. As Hanukkah reminds us, a little light can dispel a great deal of darkness. Let this book be the first candle towards understanding what Jewish Australians are facing and dispelling the darkness that ultimately impacts every Australian.

Love,
Maggie May
Yikes, it’s a bit loud on the internet with all the Black Friday stuff 🥴

We don’t do sales, we could, but I think I realised a long time ago that I’m not a big shop and trying to compete with them was a losing game. It remember a sale we did years ago and I had a sign at the counter saying politely ‘no gift wrapping or bags today’ and then people were super miffed they didn’t get our usual service with their discount. I decided no more sales after that. Occasional treats or surprises but no big sales. I hope you know that if you come to see me you’ll always get beautiful service and that’s my special retail magic I can add to the world. I might not be the cheapest but I’ll always be the best value and do it with all my heart. ❤️🙏🏼

We also don’t have a huge advertising budget so I rely on word of mouth and doing a good job. Slow retail? Is there such a thing? I think we’re doing that.

Gorgeous things, family business, free gift wrapping and a pretty place you can stroll instead of scroll.

It’s going to be a gorgeous day today, make sure you get some of that sunshine Melbourne. We deserve it.

We’re down to our last few Tony’s Chocolonely calendars so make sure you grab one ready to open NEXT MONDAY!

If you got this far, make sure you share the post for a little small business love 😘❤️

The Tony’s Chocolonely Advent Calendars are here and I still can’t believe our luck. Our rep told us these were the very last boxes available in Victoria. They’re already sold out in so many stores and if this year is anything like last year or the year before, they’ll pop up on eBay for double the price. Say whhhhaaaa?? Yes, Tony’s is very delicious chocolate hahah.

This is the smaller countdown calendar but it still has the same amount of chocolate, just in a more compact size that is perfect for posting. Order online today and I’ll have it at the post office this afternoon so it arrives in time for your December 1 countdown.

🎄That is only 17 days away!!!

Do you know someone who loves Tony’s? Send this to them and make sure they’ve got their calendar sorted. These really are the last boxes in Victoria and once they’re gone, that’s it.

Anyone who ordered last night (bravo 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼) yours are getting packed or are ready to pick up now!

Love Maggie May

We won! Nominated and voted for by the community, we’ve been crowned the Best Small Business in Victoria in the Awards 2025! Thank you so so so much!!

I’m honestly in shock. It was delightful to be nominated, but WIN?! Pinch me!!! Eight years running this small business, and 18 months since we made the leap to Caulfield North. We love our customers, and I’m endlessly grateful for our incredible neighbours and everyone who’s welcomed us into this community with open arms. It was a big move to the other side of Melbourne, and in many ways it’s felt like starting all over again, but with the same heart and purpose at the centre of everything: good people doing good things.

A big thank you to all the brands & artists who we stock, our shop is a curation of your creativity and dedication too.

Small businesses are the soul of our suburbs. We give our communities colour, character, and heart. We’re the familiar faces who wrap your gifts, remember your stories, and celebrate your milestones. We help make life a little more thoughtful, and if we’re lucky, we have the perfect gift at the perfect time.

This win is for every small business owner doing the long hours, for every creative dreamer who took a risk, and for the communities who see them, support them, and help them not just survive but thrive.

We’re here 6 days a week & online is always open.

With so much love and gratitude,
Maggie May and Joshua 💙🥰🙏🏼

Hey folks, we’re closed today for a hospital appointment, back Friday!

We love stocking Nature Baby. It’s a brand we’ve adored for years and one we dressed our own son in when he was tiny, so I know firsthand what a beautiful gift it is to receive.

I don’t hide my IVF journey. It’s a big part of my life right now as we try to grow our family. There’s nothing I love more than helping put together gifts for brand new people. The specialness and miracle of their existence is never lost on me.

Every baby gift that leaves our shop is wrapped with love, chosen with care, and sent off with genuine joy. These tiny clothes might only fit for a short while, but they’ll always hold memories of those first, precious days.

Joshua’s not usually in the videos, but he’s very much part of the magic here at Thinkers and Makers. We built this shop into something special together!

Thoughtful gifts. Joyful service. And the occasional dance break. Come by and we’ll make sure the perfect gift appears.

Could you work with your partner? 😂😘🌈

Love,
Maggie May and Joshua 💛
