Try ginseng for your next pick-me-up.

I’ve been off coffee for a while and sticking to tea, but I could tell my energy needed a little extra support. This Korean red ginseng extract “The Premium” from Taegeuk Sagye is an ultra high content, red ginseng stick made with ginsenoside grown by a master ginseng cultivator. Each stick contains 35.3 mg of ginsenocide, the key active compound in red ginseng, ranking it among the top domestic products in Korea.

It is recognized as a functional health food for all six traditional red ginseng functions. I’ve been taking one stick a day straight from the packet. It’s easy, travel, friendly, and could be taken before or after meals. I sometimes add honey or milk for a smoother taste.

If you’re looking for a daily ritual to support energy, immunity, and overall balance without caffeine this is an interesting place to start.

*Im not a health expert and this is not medical advice. I’m just a women in her 40s pretty sure I’m going through perimenopause and trying to figure out how I can stay awake during the day and actually sleep at night.

Thank you to for sending this to me to try.

Save this post if Koreas temples are on your travel list.

From ocean-front shrines and city temples tucked between high rise buildings to hermitages carved into cliffs, Korea is home to over 900 Buddhist temples, each with its own atmosphere and history.

Some are loud with waves, some are wrapped in forest silence, and some flow with lanterns in spring or blaze with color in the autumn.

Dubai treats have been going viral in Korea for more than a year now. The newest iteration are the Dubai Chewy Cookies which aren’t a cookie’s normal texture but more closely resemble a rice cake, and is made by stuffing pistachio cream and knafeh shreds into a chocolate marshmallow.

Delicious? Yes. Ideal for your next date night? Wouldn’t suggest them unless you like that chocolate brown colored lip and teeth look.

Have you tried this viral treat yet?

When I say citrus in Jeju, I’m sure you think of the tangerines that cover the island. But, there are zestier lemon farms too!

The Lemon Museum, only museum in name, really a lemon farm with a cafe, invites visitors to get hands on with their organic lemons. Take your kids, pick lemons, see the peacocks, and make some zesty styrups and jellies.

It’s a different citrus experience on Jeju Island.

Gimhae Cafe -> Save for later.

My mother-in-law knows our tastes, don’t you agree? This is Myeongwol, a beautiful cafe in Gimhae, Korea sitting near the beautiful King Suro Tomb complex.

In the summers, the ponds outside have steam rising from them making it very mystical. In the winter, it’s quiet and a space to drink omija ade and chai tea.

Korea looked at vending machines and said, “Why stop at drinks?”

I love finding the random cotton candy vending machines in the summer, the old school mixed coffee vending machines in the subway stations, and the character vending machines in unexpected locations.

From K-beauty to food, library books, and even souvenirs (that Jeju souvenir vending machine was in a hospital by the way… because I’m sure locals are always on the hunt for local souvenirs).

At this point, Korean vending machines feel more like tiny convenience stores and I love finding them.

How many of these have you found? Found other interesting ones? Comment below.

What to know about Pyunkang Yul’s Black Tea Line

This is Pyunkang Yuls luxury anti-aging collection made with long-fermented black tea and traditional herbal ingredients. It’s designed to restore elasticity, hydration, and radiance without overwhelming sensitive skin.

Pyunkang Yul is know for having products that are perfect for sensitive skin, created by an oriental medicine clinic for treating atopic skin issues, their formulas are minimal and avoid harsh chemicals like parabola, artificial fragrances, and colorants.

More people should be talking about this line. The toner is surprising. A gel-like consistency that’s more like a cross between a toner and a serum, it’s so hydrating. Added to my list of loved toners. The serum, thicker, it layers easily and helps with the glow. My skin has truly been glowing the last few weeks as I switched to this line. But the cream is the cream of the crop. It’s thick. A little goes a long way. Smoothing, hydrating, and ideal for these winter months. My skin hasn’t felt better.

If you have sensitive skin, definitely look into this brand. Follow for more K-beauty inspiration.

My name is Hallie and I’m originally from Ohio in the U.S. I came to Korea in 2006 to teach English and to travel the world. I realized I was going to call Korea home and transitioned to travel writing and copywriting for companies like LG, Hankook Tire, and Samsung.

I’ve written for Forbes Travel Guide, Lonely Planet, Cathay Pacific, and been featured on CNN and the BBC, and it all started because of my passion for Korea which I started to share on The Soul of Seoul.

I started The Soul of Seoul in 2013 to motivate myself to see more, learn more, and continue to explore and I’m thrilled it has and continues to help more people travel to Korea and maintain a life in Korea.

From the food to the flower fields, I love learning, seeing, trying, and experiencing more in this beautiful country. If you want to experience Korea like I have but don’t know where to start, check out for city guides, a deep delve into food and culture, and so much more than you can imagine.

Can’t find something there? Leave a question in the comments and I’ll try to find the answer for you.
