Desert fun in the sun before it gets too hot. This is why I love Vegas. Good rocks and even better friends.

Wow, visiting San Juan Island last week was a trip down memory lane. ⛵️ Want to know the story behind my Instagram handle? Years ago, I began sailing by heading under the Golden Gate Bridge, hanging a left turn, ending up in Panama, and sailing up into the Sea of Cortez with a partner willing to take on the challenge of me learning as we went. The craziest thing I brought with me was my 30 pound silicone tail (that and a super comfy lemur onesie that you see in the second photo). I learned how to freedive by pulling down the anchor chain and swimming in my mermaid tail with baby sea lions. From there, sailing took over my life! Here are a few of my most memorable times on sailboats, along with photos from last week. Libations Too, the boat that took me to Panama and back, is still in port in the place I last saw her ten years ago. I have fond memories of my origins in sailing with her.
-Racing across the Sea of Cortez in a winter storm so I could make it to a NYE gig in Vegas (yay for being reckless and not knowing better)
-Living on the boat in Seattle
-Learning ukulele at the bow while making passage
-Struggling with celestial navigation
-Motor sailing on glassy seas and getting towed behind with dock lines and a Costco surfboard
-Dropping anchor outside of the break in Nicaragua and Costa Rica to paddle in and catch some waves
-Dolphins glowing in the bioluminescence as they swim around us at night
I hope she’s had some fun adventures since. I love that boat, and I’m thankful for the friends and mentors who have given me the gift of sailing. 💕

Happy World Circus Day! Circus has given me some incredible experiences in my life and still continues to do so. Whether it’s at a gig in Vegas or in a festival near the ocean, I am thankful for the opportunity to meet other fellow artists using their craft to share a message they care about or bring light to challenging times. To my fellow circus friends, I appreciate you. Keep doing what you do! This year, I rung in World Circus Day in playing with fire at a friend’s birthday celebration, but didn’t get photos. Instead, here are photos from performances at the for the International Mermaid Festival 2026. Thank you to Patrick Bangle for capturing these shots of my show!

Wow, what an inspiring weekend of learning and reuniting with friends and colleagues! Thanks to the for bringing a knowledgeable group of inter-disciplinary medical professionals together to share knowledge that helps athletes maintain health while in competition. Thanks to,, and for meeting up outside of conference hours to talk about diving, sailing, and life. Lastly, thanks to for being my running buddy to the beach! What would a trip to Florida be without beach time, and what would a sports pharmacist be without a little bit of sport!? 😜 Looking forward to utilizing the knowledge from talks on supplements, biomarkers, creatine, and more in both my personal and professional life.

Three pitches of some secondary (but mostly primary) fun! Grateful to get some Vegas sunshine and to climb some rocks with and! Thanks for the fun climbs, silly songs, and dumb jokes echoing off the cliffs. What a great way to spend an April day.

Thank you to for the feature in Quarter 1 magazine of ALERT DIVER by. It was an absolute joy working with you to talk about my concurrent journeys in diving, the performing arts, and medicine. I’ve been grateful to work with some incredible organizations including the and. While looking back on photos to feature in this article, I wanted to give shoutouts to some amazing friends and photographers, including and Kel Kitch. We looked through over 45 photos from friends I’ve worked with throughout the years, and making underwater art with you all has been a dream come true. If you’d like to read the article, it is available online. I’ll post it in stories and on a link in my bio. As I take the next steps in my career(s), it has been an interesting challenge to blend them to create synergy rather than divide my efforts. It’s a new road, and let’s see where it goes. 💕

Another portion of the competition: “Poolside Mer-Sona”. In this portion of the competition, contestants interacted with guests on the cruise while in character, and guests were allowed to vote for their favorites. As Sea Queen of Nevada, I wanted to choose colors that reminded me of the fiery desert hues in the Valley of Fire outside of Las Vegas. If you’ve never been hiking there, definitely add it to your bucket list! I called this my “Fire Mermaid” look. In addition to the hiking and freediving, the performing arts are what actually brought me to the city in the first place. I landed a role as a resident fire dancer for a Vegas circus show called Celestia. My days would be spent rock climbing in the mornings, training in the Strat swimming pool in the afternoons, and performing onstage in the evenings with fire. While that contract has ended, I still perform both as a fire dancer, a professional mermaid, and sometimes as a fire eating professional mermaid! It’s funny where life’s journey takes you. I’m so thankful for the quirky twists and turns. The video clips seen here came from on, and photos came from. In these scenes, you’ll also see my fellow titleholders,,, and. Thanks to and for transporting us mers to and from the pool! Thanks to for your hard work for the competition, and thanks to and for your hard work on the docuseries!

I just got home and just wanted to share what I received in the mail! The stunt team of Black Panther 2: Wakanda Forever was nominated for outstanding performance by a stunt ensemble in a motion picture! It was such an honor to be even a small part of this film. This was my first time in a major motion picture, and it was crazy seeing how much time and effort that went into making each millisecond of this film. In addition to a few other characters, I was recruited to be an underwater double for in just a few short instances. She is so extremely talented under and above water, and I was only needed when she was busy with other work! Huge props to who was Mabel’s main double. This was an incredible way to combine my passions for freediving and performance art. Thanks to Chris Denison for bringing me onto the team and giving me this opportunity. Fingers crossed for more projects like this!

Wow, what a roller coaster ride this has been! If you had asked me at the end of 2022 if I had plans to compete for American Ninja Warrior I would have replied with a solid and resolute “no”. However, at the end of January I got the call, and it started me off on a six week journey of training my heart out like my life depended on it! It was mind-blowing to come out onto the course that I’ve only ever seen on a screen, except this time I could experience the audience cheers and the obstacles ahead in the best surround sound and high definition ever - real life! I was filled with so much joy that I couldn’t stop laughing, dancing, and grinning at the surreal experience! When the official count down started, just as in a freediving competition, it was time to shut out the outside world and focus on the task ahead of me. While I can’t say how I did on my run until Season 15 comes out, I can say that I learned some amazing lessons from the people I’ve met and have a first-hand knowledge of the effort and hard work that it takes to excel at this sport. I can say that I left it all on the course, and that I was limited by a lack of experience rather than by fear or self doubt. I came out of this experience inspired to continue in this sport, and I think that my background in running, competitive freediving, and performing gave me a mental leg up as I’ve trained myself to push through the nerves and unknown to focus on the task ahead. This experience gave me a baseline for my strengths and areas for improvement, and it’s only onward and upward from here!

PS: I am a bit behind on posting my training updates, but now I have a bit more time to edit and share videos of my training journey. Stay tuned!
