I want to know it all. Not just the relationships, but also about the details and design.

I want to know where the inspiration came from. What significance a detail has that runs through an entire design. That you got a bow on your dress because your grandmother hand sewed all of your childhood bows and it reminds you of her. That you chose small touches of blue because you spent Summers on the east coast and you wanted to bring in a touch of New England to your otherwise Spring palette. People are part of the story, but so are the incredibly thoughtful details that you choose to complete it.

For Caroline and Josh’s wedding at River Oaks Garden Club, Sava from Sava Events and I had a design call prior to the wedding and part of that conversation included that a big inspiration of the reception design was the desire to make it feel like they were eating at an intimate restaurant. I loved it! I drew inspiration from it and made sure to approach it in my angles and editing to make it feel like that in the photos.

From Inspiration to reality! What an incredible spring this has been —

While in Antwerp last week, I visited the Plantin-Moretus Museum — a place that quietly reminded me that art and science have always been deeply intertwined.

For centuries before photography existed, botanists, naturalists, and scientists documented their discoveries through drawing. The more observant and detailed the illustration, the more knowledge could be shared. Art was not separate from science. It was essential to it.

Prior to my arrival in Belgium, I found myself completely captivated by the Artemis mission through back home in Houston. I was obsessed with the daily updates, and I learned that astronauts trained not only in photography — so they could document landscapes and details no human had ever seen so closely before — but also in language itself. They studied how to describe what they were witnessing with precision and clarity before the rest of the world could see it for themselves.

That idea stayed with me.

How observation shapes understanding. How beauty and documentation coexist. How color exists in nature in ways we often overlook until someone teaches us how to truly see it. And how, time and time again, we only need to look to nature itself to find the most inspiring color palettes imaginable.

When photographs from space revealed the extraordinary tones hidden within the surface of the moon — rust, ochre, lavender, ash, gold — I kept thinking about flowers. About the throat of a bearded iris dissolving into violet petals. About the strange complexity of Vovos tulips. About the way butterfly ranunculus seem almost translucent in certain light.

Nature continues to offer the most extraordinary inspirations.

Much of the work I created during my last retreat, in many ways, became my interpretation of that discovery — somewhere between the garden and the cosmos.

Last image from my flower pal,
2025 brought a tremendous amount of growth for The Petaler, but it also brought a great deal of clarity.

We created beautiful work this past year. Work that I am incredibly proud of. But somewhere along the way, I realized that the pace, the pressure, and certain environments we found ourselves in no longer felt aligned with who I wanted to be as a creative or where I wanted to take this business long term.

I found myself asking difficult questions: What do I actually want this company to feel like? What kind of work do I want to create? Who do I want to create alongside?

At the heart of everything we do is a genuine love of flowers, nature, beauty, and thoughtful design. Somewhere along the way, the noise of growth, prestige, expectations, and constant production began to overshadow the quiet joy that made me fall in love with this work in the first place.

There was a moment last year — exhausted, emotionally depleted, collapsed on the floor of a hotel room in Paris, crying — when I realized something needed to change. So I stepped back. The business changed. The team changed. I changed.

Part of returning to the root of it all has been. Emily has shaped me so deeply over the past few years — not just as a designer, but as a creative person. Through her workshops, her gardens, and the incredible community she has cultivated, I have been reminded again and again why I fell in love with flowers in the first place. And then there is Emily herself. It takes a very special person to pour that much work and love into a garden, only to gather a motley crew of strangers each year to cut it all down.

This year, I found myself exiting the train at 11:59 for a 12:00 PM pickup, and as I came down the station stairs, I knew immediately who was already there waiting — the smiles, the laughter, the rain boots — I had spotted the group. Because that is the thing about: it attracts a very special kind of person. The curious, the adventurous, the people eager to learn, and the people willing to stay open to wonder. I have found time and time again that those people are my people.
What a week ahead! First up, a stop in Paris to deliver supplies and review rentals for our June wedding in the south of France. Then on to Antwerp for a 2027 site visit, and finally to the artist retreat at — creating with all the early summer goodies in Emily’s magical garden and reconnecting with old friends who we just learned will be there too!

The summer season is almost here, and we couldn’t be more ready.

Events this year are going to be bursting with color, movement, and unexpected forms — so much of it inspired by the sea and by Monet. A stop at the Musée de l’Orangerie felt like the only right way to begin.

À bientôt!
It’s our favorite time of year — that sweet spot between the end of spring and the beginning of summer, when the florals are, in our opinion, the most beautiful they’ll be all year.

Next week, we’re headed to for a creative reset in Emily’s garden. The bearded irises are in full bloom, the last of the tulips are hanging on, and we cannot wait to spend a week surrounded by it all in Belgium.

From there, it’s back to Houston for a couple of events — and then we pack our bags again for the south of France, where we’ll be celebrating Bree and Jason’s wedding.

The next few weeks have so much in store! We hope you’ll follow along!
Spring dinner party scenes.

This season has brought with it a shift—one we’ve been quietly preparing for.

As we move toward the launch of, where full-scale planning and production will live, will return to its roots—focused entirely on flowers.

A thoughtful transition requires a moment of pause. We’ll be stepping back slightly before returning to weddings full time in 2027.

In the meantime, we’ll be here—creating, refining, and preparing for what’s to come. Stay tuned and follow along…
For years, The Petaler has been a place of exploration—where flowers, gatherings, and creative instinct have met and grown alongside me.

And over time, something became clear.

My love for events had deepened into something more expansive. More layered. More complete.
A desire not only to design what is seen, but to shape what is felt.

So, over the next season, The Petaler will return to its roots—
beautiful flowers, artfully arranged.

A space devoted to floral design, and to guiding the next generation of florists as they build their own language of beauty.

And with that, a new chapter begins.

In close collaboration with Paige of, I have been quietly shaping a vision that has lived with me for years—brought forward with care, intention, and at the right moment.

This autumn, I will be introducing
Elizabeth Stottlemyre Events—
an atelier devoted to weddings in France for American clients seeking something deeply considered, culturally grounded, and entirely their own.

Rooted in artistry. Designed with intention. Led by experience.
With a longstanding love for France—its language, its rituals, its quiet elegance—this feels less like a pivot, and more like a homecoming.
A natural evolution of everything I have been building toward.

Launching Autumn 2026
Cafe latte roses will never not be a favorite.

There is something about that muted, smoky blush — neither pink nor taupe — that feels impossibly sophisticated. They soften deeper tones, elevate neutrals, and photograph like silk.
When they come from the petal count, the shape, the longevity… unmatched.

Some flowers are trends. These are the standard.
Spring is one of the most generous seasons for wedding flowers.

Lilac heavy on the branch. Garden roses opening in layers. Sweet peas twisting toward the light. Everything feels alive, fragrant, and fleeting in the most romantic way.

When flowers are chosen in their natural moment, the design does not need to shout. It simply unfolds. We are so excited for all beautiful spring blooms coming our way in the next few weeks!
As we prepare to return to France next week for site visits ahead of our Summer 2026 weddings, we’ve been reflecting on some of our favorite venues across the country.

From contemporary museums in Paris to historic châteaux in the countryside, each setting carries its own atmosphere and rhythm.

What began as a love for the language has become something more lasting — producing meaningful celebrations for our couples in a place that has long felt like home.
