I am gonna reach out because you guys helped this case 3 months ago but the owner gave to another person and that person appears to have dumped him on the streets!

He does NOT like other cats! Will need to get him surgery and such before adoption or foster as he is a VERY stinky boy!! Gotta love that testosterone!

Was is even more sad is he is DEAF and dumped on the streets 😞

Does everybody remember the crazy rescue we did last year where there was a cat stuck in a very tight shaft between two buildings and the only access we had was from the third floor? We had to lower traps out a window and lure her in and haul her up. With the help of and she was lifted to safety and determined to have no serious injuries.

Well now she needs YOUR help!! Almond has had a very tumultuous life through no fault of her own. She is a super sweet, friendly and beautiful girl and she is fully vetted. At one time she lived with her brother, so she should be fine with other cats. Due to the unfortunate consequences of addiction her original owner had to give her up and subsequently died. After her rescue, his friends tried to care for her for the last year, but one has been hospitalized with severe illness and the other is losing their housing, which means so is she.

Almond has always known a lot of love despite the instability her humans have dealt with. She will have no place to go in 18 days. She's a really sweet, beautiful, easygoing, friendly cat and will provide tons of love!! She's approximately 2 years old and has been fully vetted. She is looking for a forever, stable home. Please consider applying to adopt or even to foster if you can't adopt right now.

Foster and adoption applications can be found on our website:

Let's make the end of Almond's story, a great one together!!

Snickers is in her forever home. She had a bit of a traumatic day with momma leaving and other things. We sent her home with the carrier shes known since literally day one and its helped to make her feel more comfortable in transition. She is more fearful than her sibling but I am hoping she can get through as much socialization in a positive way in these next 5 weeks.

She is super sweet and truly the calmest little pup.

When you next visit our clinic you will see this lovely traffic light!

We know it can be nerve wracking to not know what to expect when you come into a clinic.

We pride ourselves on truly starting our scheduled appointment times ON time and we also know that things happen (clients run late, urgent and emergency cases arrive unexpectedly, we get short staffed, etc).

To help our clients know how long things may be expected for them to wait once they arrive (as well as a way for our behind the scenes team to communicate with our client services team) we created this alert system.

We can thank for the idea but we just took it thank much further!

Its only taken 2 years but we finally got a sign up! Many people commented that the playful purple dogs and cat silhouettes were not enough to point out it was us as a vet clinic. Hope this works!

Did I use to scruff? Yes. Did I use to teach scruffing? Yes.

Was that before social media and rapid spread of available information out there? Yes.

Was it prior to me learning, knowing, realizing and actually WITNESSING in real life how damaging scruffing is for the patient, pet owner, and pet handling team? Yes.

But it is still difficult for me to watch videos of veterinary professionals scruffing patients.....especially frial ones like this cat. This cat was found on the streets by a rescue and they did the right thing to take it to a vet. Before the poor kitty is even assessed or examined he is scruffed and removed from the carrier and you can heaR his discomfort as well as struggled breathing because of the scruffing. He was then taken to the back to be examined by another professional and he is scruffed and hung up without any additional support while they explain his demise. And the commenter even states how he is skin and bones.

It is hard to talk about fellow professionals. Do they not know scruffing has been frowned on for over a decade? I find that hard to believe.

Fellow vet and vet tech behavioral specialists who speak up and try to help educate fellow colleagues.....are greeted with laughter and bullying, and continue to misunderstand and support scruffing. They make viral videos of the trauma of manhandling cats. 😞

A mobile surgeon once came to our practice to take care of a cat. An amazing, sweetheart of a cat that sat there and would just eat a churu for all handling even when dealing with her completely shattered pelvis and ankle. And the first thing the surgeon did was reach in, scruffed the cat and pulled her up and out of her carrier. The poor cat was now fearful and did not understand the sudden completely jarring and negative handling within her experience.

That was the first and last surgery that surgeon ever performed in our hospital.

Enough with the scruff! Better is now known.

There is MORE to a patients health than that of the physical. When will we as a profession realize that the overall health of a patient involves psychological safety for them?

If we can not find a foster by Monday we will be transferring her to. I can not longer be a dumping ground for strays and goodsams wanting to do the right thing and then the buck stops there. No donations, no help in finding fosters. Nothing.

This gets exhausting and I start to understand more and more why so many vet clients refuse to take in strays and send everything to the shelter.

My Ted talk.
