This is probably the astro version of an ink blot test, as different people see different things here 😳 (let's talk about what's going on in your unconciouss mind shall we?😅) Nonetheless, the heart nebula is a massive cloud of ionized hydrogen gas roughly 7,500 light years away from us, and takes up a field of view of 2.5° in our sky - if we could see it with the naked eye, this giant heart would take up the space of 5 full moons across! Glad that it's finally in a convenient spot to image now, and I put in about 6 hours worth of exposure to make this minimal-star version of it! Hope you enjoy, cheers pals ✌

Shooting this target is such a pleasure. The Rosette nebula is a massive cloud of hydrogen gas 65 light years across (and 5,200 light years away‼) surrounding a star cluster in it's center. These stars were formed from the hydrogen in the nebula over millions of years!
I fought through the pesky moonlight this weekend to get a few hours on it from my backyard. Finally found a comfortable way to get my imaging going while I can stay warm inside haha. Amazing what's up there when you look up at the night sky! If you ever thought of getting into astro, gimme a shout, and let's get you started! I love this hobby but man can it eat away at your soul sometimes haha. After a blunder of a weekend 2 weeks ago where 3 good nights were wasted due to focusing issues, I got an electronic automatic focuser and tested it out last night. Perfection. Everything went smoothly. Could not have been happier with the 6 hours of data I got. Plugged in the SD card of the ASIair this morning to transfer files, got an error message, and everything was wiped. All images, all software to run the ASIair, everything gone. So much for riding that good feeling! If anything this hobby has taught me to be more careful, slow down and think before I act, and triple check everything. I never make the same mistake a second time, so each one is a learning experience. Managed to salvage only 1 hour's worth of the Flaming Star and Tadpole nebula, and although it's not great because of such little integration time, I ain't gonna let that whole night go to waste!
