Postpartum isn’t a 6-week sprint. It’s a year-long (or more) journey of rebuilding strength, trust, and compassion for your body. You’re not behind. You’re healing — and that takes time.

The slow walks. The quiet feeds. The deep breaths. The rest. The gentle reconnection to your core.

It might not look like much from the outside — but inside, so much is happening.

Comment below and tell us your favorite part of the postpartum healing phase!

The first time I tried jumping and running postpartum, I leaked — and honestly, it crushed me. As a pre/postnatal exercise expert, I felt like I had done all the work to prepare. So why was my body “failing” me?

But here’s what I’ve learned: leaking isn’t failure — it’s feedback. My body wasn’t broken. It was just telling me it needed more time, more intention, and a return to the foundations.

So I went back to basics:

🌀 Pelvic floor relaxation
💪 Core strength
🦶 Single-leg stability
🧍‍♀️ Single-sided strength
👣 Calf strength and coordination

Now, at 21 months postpartum, I can run, jump, laugh, sneeze — you name it — without leaking. And if you’re not there yet, know this: you can get there too.

Leaking is common, but it’s not something you just have to live with. Listen to your body, give it what it needs, and trust the process. 💜

Preparing for motherhood means training for the real-life movements you’ll be doing all day, every day — feeding, holding, baby wearing, changing diapers... the list goes on.

At TLM, one of our biggest goals is helping our prenatal clients build the strength and support their bodies need for the demands of early motherhood.

Since so much of that new-mom life happens in front of us, we love focusing on upper back strength to balance things out and provide the support your body craves. 💪

Trainer Rachel (who’s expecting her own baby girl this July! 💕) is demoing a few of our favorite upper back strengthening exercises — all synced with diaphragmatic breath to keep your pelvic floor and core fully connected.

Strong. Supported. Ready. Let’s go, mamas.

Current favorite glute burner: Glute Med Wall Squat 🍑🔥

Slow. Controlled. Juicy. Challenging in the best way.

This move targets your glute med — one of the key supporting muscles around your pelvis that often gets underworked, especially in motherhood.

Ever heard a mom say, “I totally lost my butt after having a baby”? 👀
Yeah… your glute med has a lot to do with that.

This muscle helps stabilize your pelvis, support your core, and keep your hips happy — so rebuilding it postpartum is essential.

Here’s how to get into it:

➡️ Stand next to a wall and lift your inside foot, externally rotating it into the wall.
➡️ Anchor into your standing leg (that’s your working side).
➡️ Inhale to lower into a squat, exhale to press up.
✨ Optional: Hold a weight at your chest for extra resistance.

Focus on moving with your breath so your glutes, core, and pelvic floor can work together. You should feel that outer glute of the standing leg firing up!

Give it a try and tell me how it feels! 💜

Challenging Prenatal Core Workout 💥

Yes, you can do hard things while pregnant — it’s all about smart programming, breath work, and body awareness.

This circuit is designed to challenge your deep core, build full-body strength, and keep you feeling powerful and supported through pregnancy.

💪 Moves in the workout:

✨ Kneeling Windmill (with weight) – Fires up your obliques and transverse abdominis.
✨ Lateral Bear Crawl (add a band for intensity) – Keep hips in line with shoulders, shins parallel to the floor.
✨ Bird Dog Tricep Extension – Extend the leg for an extra stability challenge.
✨ Supine Weighted Pullover – One or two weights, ribs tucked (no flaring!), and breath synced to avoid coning/doming.

Reminder: your breath is your core connector. The goal isn’t just to power through — it’s to move intentionally, with support from your pelvic floor and deep core.

Pregnant bodies are strong — let’s train like it. 💜

3 signs your postpartum body might not be ready for high-impact exercise (like running):

✨ Urinary leakage or incontinence – If you’re leaking when you sneeze, laugh, or exercise, it’s a sign your pelvic floor could use more support before jumping into intense movement.

✨ Pelvic pain or pressure – A feeling of heaviness, pain, or pressure in your pelvic area (often described as a dragging sensation) may mean your core and pelvic floor haven’t fully healed yet. Pushing through could increase the risk of prolapse or pelvic floor dysfunction.

✨ Abdominal separation (Diastasis Recti) – Noticing a gap or bulge down the center of your belly during certain movements? That’s your body telling you your core needs more time to rebuild before diving into high-impact training.

Healing first doesn’t mean giving up your goals — it just means laying the foundation so you can come back stronger, more supported, and injury-free.

💜 If you’re looking for guidance on rehabbing your core and pelvic floor and getting back to the workouts you love, reach out — we’d love to help you feel strong and confident in your body again.

✤ our founder is pregnant!!!✤

After over 13 years as a pre/postnatal master trainer, after personally training thousands of pre/postnatal clients through their journeys, after training countless trainers to specialize in this demographic and on The Lotus Method’s 9-year anniversary…I’m thrilled to announce it’s finally my turn to embark on my own 9-month journey.

It took me a lot of years to get here for a lot of reasons. The biggest one is that growing this business has been my sole focus for the past nine years. I’ve spent years dodging not questions but innocent assumptions that I was already a mother. I was always ready with with response and luckily my skill set spoke for its self. But regardless it’s been 13 years of watching women I care about become mothers often 2-3 times over knowing it’s eventually what I wanted as well. Which makes all of this a bit more special to finally say yes! I’m expecting!!

I’ve been so honored to have been a part of so many women’s journeys, and it feels really special to finally let you in on mine…

I wrote something to my little one the day I found out I was pregnant…

“It hasn’t hit me. You haven’t hit me. All that you change. All that you will be. All that I always wanted.

It’s me. It’s my turn. It’s my turn to stretch, grow, to evolve. It’s your turn to stretch, grow, to become. We’ll become together.

I haven’t met you, but I’m already in awe of all that you are. All that you will change. All that we will become. “

Thank you for being here. Thank you to my incredible team, who has shared my joy and supports and uplifts so many women. TLM wouldn’t be here and have become all it has without you. 💜

Thank you for allowing us to be a part of your journey. And thank you for allowing me to share my own with you…

Xoxo, Caitlin
