On the first day of every month I boil Kiribath (Milk Rice) and serve it with a Chilli Fish Curry and some seeni sambol. December is no different the only thing different is setting up a little advent corner for the kids with a chocolate calendar, pyjamas, books and activity boxes. I give them their Christmas Pyjamas early so that we get more wear out of them rather than saving it for one day. I also packed the kids Christmas treats for their school friends. Hope the kids enjoy it as much as mine enjoyed putting it together.

1. Always serve a fruit or veg that the kids like.Pick something seasonal so that it’s inexpensive.

It’s been way too long since I posted here. Nearly 7 months since my unannounced social media break and a lot has happened and changed. I debated the end of this blog for many months but decided that - when things get overwhelming and the things that gave you joy no longer spark that same joy it’s best to take a break. Here are some life updates since I last posted:
1. The family was reunited after an extended holiday in Sri Lanka for 6 months. Solo parenting was HARD and I’m so happy to be back. (Dev and I had a good chuckle over the divorce rumors though but honestly I didn’t even want to answer those questions and set the record straight)
2. I ticked off some huge goals.
3. I learnt that there is always a reason and a season for everything.
4. Learnt to rejoice in my trials and tribulations.
5. Multi tasked like I have never multi tasked in my life.
My husband started dropping me not so subtle hints about the blog over the last 2 months so; Dev if you are at work reading this 🥰 I took the hint and posted.
Anyone else’s husband gets tired of pushing and just shoves you to do things sometimes?

8 pcs of barramundi
2 green chillies thinly sliced
1 Bombay onion diced
1 tomato diced
1 tsp garlic paste
2 tbsp lime juice
Pinch of salt and pepper
(Marinate for 30 minutes)
8 banana leaves heated on an open flame and rubbed with oil
8 toothpicks
CURRY CREAM SAUCE
2 tbsp butter/ margerine
2 tbsp flour
330ml thick coconut milk
( is a personal fav as it’s thick and creamy and works well in sauces)
1/4 tsp turmeric
1 tsp unroasted curry powder
Onion, garlic,chillie flakes, curry leaves, mustard seeds and oil for tempering
Marinate the fish for 30 minutes
Wrap each piece in a banana leaf and secure with a toothpick.
Prepare steamer and steam for 15 minutes.
Make a roux with the butter and flour in a separate pan. Add the coconut milk and keep stirring on low heat until smooth and lump free. Let it gradually thicken, add the turmeric and stir. In a separate pan add some oil with onions, curry leaves, mustard seeds,garlic,chillie flakes and unroasted curry powder and temper until the onions turn translucent.
Serve with steamed rice and pol sambol. 😍 you can also serve this with a fresh garden salad as well. This is what comfort food looks like to me ❤️
