Your Best Game 🎯 🧠

Just like goal setting—if you don’t know what your best looks like, how do you know what you’re aiming for?

Every player’s best game looks different. It depends on your position, your strengths, and how you feel and carry yourself when you’re truly in the zone.

But here’s the thing: YOU need to define it.
✅ Think back to a game or session where you felt unstoppable.

• What were you doing well?
• What was your mindset like?
• How was your self-talk and body language?
🧠 Success always leaves clues. Your job is to reflect and learn from those peak moments.

This is exactly what we’ll be diving into during the upcoming Mentoring Program—helping players tap into their best and bring it out consistently.

Many pro athletes I know don’t set goals.

If you’re a young player trying to reach your full potential, start setting GOALS.
Not just one type—three:
📍 Short-term (daily)
🎯 Medium-term (seasonal)
🌍 Long-term (career/life)

Let’s break it down:
🔹 Short-term = most important.
Set a goal every single session.
Keep it process-based, not outcome-based.
Example: “Today I’ll focus on my first touch.”
Reflect after. Did you hit it?

🔹 Medium-term = your season goals.
Set them at the start of the season.
They guide your focus, not define your worth.
Get input from coaches, parents, teammates.
No target = no aim.

🔹 Long-term = your big vision.
Set it, then let it go.
Check in yearly. Adjust if needed.
If you’re crushing your short- and medium-term goals, the long-term ones handle themselves.

You can’t grow without direction. Set goals. Stick to them. Review often.

4 Pillars Every Athlete Needs — Any Age, Any Level ⚽🔥
No matter what sport you play, these 4 pillars can take your game to the next level:

1️⃣ My Best Performance → Before anything else, you need to know what your best looks like. How do you feel? What are you doing? When does it show up? Only you know the answers — but once you define it, you can repeat it.

2️⃣ Goal Setting → If you don’t know the target, how will you ever hit it? Once you understand your best performance, you can set short, medium, and long-term goals that actually matter.

3️⃣ Inner Talk → That little voice in your head… sometimes it’s your biggest supporter, sometimes your harshest critic. Learning to control it is one of the most powerful skills in sport.

4️⃣ Self-Assessment → Every session and game leaves clues. Wins and losses both teach us. Reflecting helps you grow faster than just moving on to the next match.

✨ In the Inner Game Journal, I’ve broken these down so you can train your mind the same way you train your body.
If you’re ready to level up, I’m starting Inner Game Mentoring Groups soon (ages 13–17 & 18+). DM me to join. 🚀
4 Key Areas in Every Sport 🏆
• Technical
• Tactical
• Physical
• MENTAL 💭

In Australian football, the mental side is seriously overlooked — yet I believe it’s the most important if you want to reach your full potential.

You train your shooting to score.
You work on positioning to improve awareness.
You lift heavy to get stronger.
So why would your mindset just “happen” on its own?
🧠 Your mind is a muscle — train it.

If you’re a young player chasing the pro dream, or already a pro wanting to level up, start with:
✅ Goal setting
✅ Post-training/game self-reflection
✅ Defining what your best game looks like
Do it on paper, on your phone — or grab an Inner Game Journal 📓 which has everything set up for you.

Over the next few weeks, I’ll share tips & tricks I’ve used in my 13-year career.

💬 Comment what you want me to cover next.
Your career in sport is short—and nothing is guaranteed.

That’s why it’s so important to explore your interests outside of football. Not only will this help prepare you for life after sport, but it can actually improve your performance on the field too.

The PFA really emphasizes this, and they’re right to do so.

To junior players:
Don’t believe the myth that you can’t succeed at both school and football. You can, and you should aim to give 100% in everything you do. The habits you build by pushing yourself off the field—discipline, curiosity, hard work—will absolutely show up in your game.

To current players:
Every retired player will tell you how tough the transition can be. So while you’re still playing, use this time to figure out what else excites you. We’re incredibly fortunate—people are always keen to chat with us and share what they do. Doors open more easily, so take advantage of that. Explore, learn, connect.

Networking really is powerful. And what I’ve found is, the more successful someone is, the more generous they tend to be with their time and advice.

And yes—I promise to get more animated when I talk next time, 😂

It was a pleasure to go and speak to the player from Adelaide Hills FC.

They’ve signed up to The Inner Game Journals Program which gives them access to the APP & workshops presented from myself.

Teaching junior players about the mental side of the game gives me great joy and now they have a tool with the APP to help them improve performance.

A great community feel up in the hills, goodluck for the season! 💪 ⚽️

First of many teams in Football South Australia competition I will be going out to in the next few weeks. If your club is interested, get in touch.
A big thank you to for having us over to present to the students and distribute our journals. We’re thrilled to see the program expanding to another school and making a difference in the lives of more students.

Our next workshop will be centered around goal setting, and we can’t wait to share our insights with you. If your school is interested in learning more about what we have to offer, please don’t hesitate to reach out.

Together, we can help inspire the next generation of players.

Our founder had the pleasure of speaking to the players from who are on

As part of the tour, they all receive a custom designed journal & get to hear from me in person. I talk about my journey, setbacks, highlights & everything in between, plus what they really need to do, to become the best player they can be.

“The reality is, that many of the players won’t make it to a professional level, but the lessons they will learn from playing sport is invaluable and will help them in all walks of life, which is what I emphasise.

I am looking forward to the next group that comes over from Australia to experience Japan’s amazing culture.”
