Back in the workshop after a lovely Christmas break. Nice patina on this teaspoon. Hope everyone is well! #spooncarving #woodwork #handmade #handcarved
Had our Spoon Club Christmas party last week. Many spoons were carved and many sausages were consumed. Finished off another great year with a lovely night, grateful for all our members old and new! #spoonclub #makeyourown #woodenspoons #spooncarving #spoonsaregoodforyou
A few weeks ago I spent the day down at. We went through their shed of stuff and worked out what everything was and how to use it safely, taking some small diameter sycamore that had been taken down on the site and turning it into spatulas. Aside from them all picking everything up with ease, which made for an easy teaching day, they’re a group of lovely people looking after a lovely space, I’d recommend checking it out!
Dusting off the bowl lathes to get a bit of turning practice in before next year. Missed it last year due to life getting in the way so excited to be coming back! See you there!?
Winding down for the year with another bunch of stool making workshops this weekend just gone. I haven’t done a great job of documenting classes this year, but I’ve been busy and hundreds of wonderful people have come through the doors this year! Here are a few stools strapped to backs heading off into the world. January dates are up and filling fast! #stoolmaking #makeyourown #woodwork
Excited to announce our first guest instructor for next year - will be coming back to teach her one day brush making class at the end of January!

This class always sells out quickly so if you’re interested book on asap directly through Rosa’s website to avoid missing out! #brushmaking #handmade #makeyourown
Learning to forge nails with for a project is running. Very satisfying little objects!
After Spoonfest this year I had the pleasure of hosting in London, teaching his Bloom Bowl class. As always, it was lovely hanging out with Karel, who I think has one of the most unique and recognisable carving styles there is. This man is truly addicted to carving!

Thanks so much to everyone who came on the course - running an intermediate course where people were already well versed with the axe and knife really opened up the opportunity to push deeper into the form of the bowls carved, and some beautiful bowls were born.

Karel has some great blog posts about his travels in Edale and on the class here in London. You can read them by hitting the link in his bio!
Out with the old and in with the new. After 3 years the old mallets are being firewooded, and I’ve roughed out some new mallets for my bowl carving classes on the bandsaw. Faster grown, heavier, better for hitting stuff! Also if anyone needs absolutely seamless video edits done please get in touch #bowlcarving #handmade #makeyourown #woodwork
New froe handle kinda day. Found some nice fast grown ash, hopefully should last a bit longer than the last handle which met its maker splitting some apple for.
