This excerpt from Pari siamo is one of those moments in which the mask begins to fall. Rigoletto has just encountered Sparafucile, and in the solitude of his thoughts he recognizes the disturbing parallel between them: I have the tongue, he has the dagger. Two men, two different weapons — words and violence — and yet, in Rigoletto’s eyes, two sides of the same cruel world.
It is a privilege to explore this extraordinary character once again in Franco Zeffirelli’s magnificent production, surrounded by a wonderful cast and an exceptional team of musicians, under the baton of Maestro Evelino Pidò.
After the emotion of our opening night, we return to the stage tonight, October 3rd at 7 PM.

I had the pleasure of conducting the Filarmonica Gioachino Rossini Orchestra and the Chorakademie der Wiener Staatsoper, alongside as Corinna, as Marchesa Melibea, as the Contessa di Folleville, as Madama Cortese, as Cavalier Belfiore, as Conte di Libenskof, as Lord Sidney, as Don Profondo and as Barone di Trombonok.
Sharing here an excerpt from Folleville’s aria, beautifully sung by Marina Monzó — one of those moments from this performance that I’m particularly happy to revisit.
