1. Fiber is just as important as protein.
You may hear, “get your protein in.” Yes, you should but getting in your fiber is king also. Gut health is very important since these meds slow gastric emptying. You want to. Keep “things moving” and reduce the potential side effect of constipation.
2. Electrolytes + Hydration=total game changer
You may feel no appetite on these meds but your body still needs fuel and nourishment. In the beginning, I felt dizzy, exhausted and headaches and I was drinking what I thought was enough water. Once I added electrolytes to my hydration to my daily regimen, I felt more energy.
3. Strength training > cardio
GLP-1s help with so many things, including glucose and reducing inflammation. Strength training helps to retain your muscle which helps your metabolism. I saw big changes when I prioritized strength training and lifting for cardio and HIIT.
4. Higher dose < Your progress/success
When we see a higher number, we may think fat loss will be faster. We’re human! However, that may not be the case. Your dose is between you and your provider. Document your progress and stay with a dose that is your sweet spot.
5. Don’t compare your journey to others
There are weeks you may drop a lot of pounds and some weeks you may not lose anything; or even gain. This process isn’t linear. Positive changes are happening in your body even if the scale isn’t moving.
