Over the years, we've received many requests over email, messages, and from in-store patrons, asking us not only IF we keep Hindi books, but also WHY we don't.

The answer was always the same: each independent bookshop has a specialisation, and all that happens above that with the curation is informed by the growth and diversity of our clientele, the growth and diversity of our own staff's reading. Because we wouldn't ever be able to sincerely sell you things we can't vouch for.

Over the last few years, we've been quietly doing our homework. Reading our way through a lot a lot of Hindi books, and can assure you now that we've been reading enough to vouch for our first ever Hindi shelves!

We welcome you to our Lodhi Colony store, and browse through the curation we've put together for you. These are but highlights.

If you have suggestions, and recommendations of Hindi literature, please leave them in the comments below. No bookshop's collection can evolve without it's patrons' support!
Some (of the many) books we read last year as part of our very own book club! We came, dissected, and found great friends amid stories that spanned time periods, languages and so many different cultures.

Can't believe the first book club meeting of 2026 is just 2 DAYS AWAY!

This is an invitation to you, dear reader, to tell us what the best thing you read in 2025 was. We’ll share laughs, tears, and hopefully come away with books that we had never heard of before. Come join us in taking stock of the stories that most moved us in 2025 and some that remain on our ever-growing TBRs.

To join the meeting, register using the link in our bio. THERE'S STILL TIME!
If your resolution this year is to read more books (and visit more bookshops), we hope you know we have a branch in Vasant Kunj as well!

You can browse for hours, away from the hustle and bustle, the noise and the pollution of the city, sit in the quiet space and forget the outside world.

We’ve even put together a list of books that would serve as the perfect companions for your escapist fantasies.

While you never know what the next page might lead to in The Wandering by Intan Paramaditha, a choose-your-own-adventure style narrative, in Kathleen Rooney’s Lilian Boxfish Takes a Walk, adventure awaits just outside 85-year old Lilian’s doorstep.

If magical realism is more your preference and you’ve already read everything by Marquez, Alejo Carpentier would be the perfect successor, with a rich narrative that feels almost tactile or perhaps Caspar Henderson’s Book of Barely Imagined Beings, blending real life zoology with a distinctly magical flair, might allow you to forget the responsibilities of adult life for an hour or three.

Or you’d like to read something so utterly absorbing that makes you believe in the potent magic of stories again, like Alejandro Zambra’s The Private Life of Trees.

Come say hi, and we promise you can rest and recoup here awhile.
wrapping up a wonderful list of winter reading that’s kept us somewhat thawed and warm this season. ITS SO COLD, but we’ve been sitting next to our little blowers heating ourselves and reading these fantastic, wintery books. Come to think of it, we’ve never been more aware of how fantastic seasonal reading can bee🥶

set along 🍇the theme, “unseen threads: memory, place, and return”, our next book baithak 🥦 is anchored in amitav ghosh’s latest Ghost Eye. in this episode, curated w moderated by, hosted at our GK home, Agantuk, we consider how our lives become interwoven with the narratives & motifs we choose in literature.

taking a closer look at conventionally considered linear narratives, book critic and our baithak holder of space ’s asks us to ponder how books query us to rethink time and belonging, how the past reappears in the present, how family stories shape us, how human lives are bound up with place, environment, and loss.

Delighted to bring this month of programming to a close with two journalists we admire immensely: Snigdha Poonam and Jahnavi Sen, whose work has brought to attention so much about lives of communities often pushed outside of the posh conscience.

We're trying to build a community from scratch at our cosy new store in Vasant Kunj, and simultaneously learning about a part of the city we're lucky to be engaging with on the daily now.

Our team has been working our way through everything fun to do nearby - historical sites, bars, restaurants, hidden jaunts and what not - just fun stuff to do, anchored around our workplace.

And since we're trying to maxxxxx this weather out and do as much as we can outdoors, we thought we'll pick books for all places we're planning to walk through, and share them with you!

So come spend a day around the bookshop inc in vk, have coffee and snacks at the cafe next door and set out for a fun day of fooling around ✌️
The wonderful dropped by and has a little gift for whoever buys a copy of The Bengal Reader from The Bookshop Inc.

With each signed copy of the book, you'll get surprise book translated by Arunava!

Gearing up for our big book-club meeting on January 25 (have you signed up yet?!) and we started wondering -- which were the books you all read the most last year?

So we went through our books, and found out the books we sold the most number of copies of.

Tucked in this pile are the unsurprising greats: Mother Mary Comes to Me, Loneliness of Sonia and Sunny, Shattered Lands, Railsong, Anthropologists and the like.

But what's really delighted us is to actually see just how many of our heartfelt recommendations you all took, and turned rather quiet books into The Bookshop Inc's bestselling books of 2025!

From Uprooted to Cities Rethought, Intertidal, The World With It's Mouth Open, Little Girls Are Wiser Than Men, and surprising backlist titles that we sold so many copies of thanks to your trust: (not in photograph) Eunice De Souza's Dangerlok, Pedro Paramo, and If On a Winter's Night a Traveler (a book-club book!!!!)

We'd love to know what the best, most luminous book for you was in the last year, and you can ring in 2026 by joining our little book-club of mad readers to celebrate the same! This month, we're bringing our favourite reads from last year to discuss, argue, figure out what we all loved - but most important of all: to hype ourselves lots and lots for a great reading year ahead.

(If you'd like to join the book-club, registration link is in the bio!)
A sneak peek at what book sellers do when they manage to get time off all the slightly boring stuff that we just can’t escape. Unsurprisingly, we browse our own shelves of course!

At our Vasant Kunj branch, we’ve been hard at work creating lists and little notes about our thoughtfully curated selection of books that cover almost everything under the sun - from writing inspiration to the secret conspiracy behind the humble banana.

Head down to the store to discover what we’ve been loving lately!

We’re here Tuesday-Sunday, 11:00AM-07:30PM
