Charleston is where I was born and raised, where they raised my mom, and where their story began. My grandfather has told me all my life about the first moment he saw my grandmother. She was working downtown Charleston, and he said as soon as he laid eyes on her he felt like the Holy Spirit told him that he would marry her. Seeing two people continually choose each other after 73 years together is a gift that I will hold on to forever.
While taking these photos, they showed me the post office where they mailed their wedding invitations and the little apartment where they spent their honeymoon. Being able to photograph them together in the places where their love grew is something I will never forget 🤍
