GUILTY. #KarmeloAnthony sobbed Tuesday as he was swiftly convicted of murder and sentenced to 35 years for fatal stabbing of fellow high schooler jock #AustinMetcalf at a track meet.

Anthony claimed self defense but the prosecutor said it was not and he also claims it was murder not manslaughter because there was no “sudden passion”in this case because he claims Anthony was the provoker although there was evidence that Anthony was bullied but he deceased. Anthony did not take the stand.

The jury in Collin County deliberated about three hours before finding Anthony, 19, guilty of first-degree murder in the death of the 17-year-old and must now decide whether to put him away for life — prompting the killer’s weeping mom to later take the witness stand and beg for mercy for her son, according to a report by NBC DFW.

“He’s my oldest. He’ll always be my baby. I love him very much,” Anthony’s mom Kala Hayes sobbed to jurors before they headed into further deliberations to decide his sentence.

The jury consisted of white, Asian and Hispanic members.

Texas law states that you have no duty to retreat if you reasonably believe you are in immediate danger, and you can use force, including deadly force, to protect yourself or others (aka “Stand Your Ground Law”). The use of force, including deadly force, must be justified based on a reasonable belief that it is immediately necessary to prevent imminent death or serious bodily injury, or to prevent the commission of certain violent crimes like sexual assault, kidnapping, murder, or robbery. The force used must be proportionate to the threat.

Proportionality was the major issue in Anthony’s case. There is no evidence that Metcalf was armed but only that he pushed Anthony.

Anthony has been on house arrest since he awaited trial.

NO JOKING MATTER. #ChelseaHandler slams fellow comedians #ShaneGillis and #TonyHinchcliffe after their polarizing comments at #KevinHart roast that included lynching, suicide and #GeorgeFloyd murder.

“I knew enough about Tony and Shane — they’re racists, they’re bigots, they’re sexist,” the “Chelsea Handler Show” star said during Wednesday’s episode of “Deon Cole’s Funny Knowing You” podcast.

“I don’t find those jokes funny,” she went on. She referenced Gillis poking fun at Hart’s height during the roast earlier this month, with Gillis saying Hart, 46, is so short “they’re gonna have to lynch him from a bonsai tree.”

They even made fun of the George Floyd death.
