In this one, Ray Harryhausen was the subject. Every single one of those models were created during the month I was teaching each course, plus another week for final touches and all of them were created without blueprints. Do you get it now why the likeness is never fully there with my sculptures? Because it was a personal challenge and a big risk, but an honest effort to do this live in front of my students, many of them seasoned artists themselves. To show my students the struggle that it is to create a realistic character by eye, without using ready made commercial alphas and just from observation and still create something believable, even if not fully realistic.
Regardless, the techniques are all here. It's up to the learner to implement them as they please, either incorporating blue prints for better likeness fidelity or ready to use skin details. But if you want to challenge yourself, I highly recommend you to struggle by doing everything by hand, at least once.
