Bitters... They're usually one of my go-to's when I see them on cask in a pub, but I rarely go out of my way to buy them in can form. This is from the Manchester Micro Brewery "Marble", and they tend to specialize in this style of beer.

This is available both on tap and in a can. I haven't tried it on tap but I dare to say that it probably is slightly better (it usually is). It's hoppy initially, with flavours of light citrus coming through. We then get a smooth, but bitter finish with a little bit of biscuit and malt. I'll certainly be giving it a go on tap if I ever see it in a pub!

I've said it before and I'll say it again... Cold Shelter Brew do the coolest beer releases ever. If ever there were a combination of beer names, can art and beer flavour that resonated perfectly with me, these beers would be it. I loved the Witch and "dark forest" themed beers that they released last year. Towards the backend of last year they released a couple of Norse themed beers too. I presume this is a reference to the Vikings series, and in particular a reference to a scene involving Lagertha (no spoilers, don't worry). Vikings is probably one of my favorite series ever... So it's left me wondering at this point, in the same way that we have spirit animals, is it possible to have a "Spirit Brewery"? Asking for a friend, of course.

This is a Hazy IPA with a 6.5% ABV. It uses Columbus, Amarillo T90 and Amarillo CGX hops, and is fermented using the notorious London Fog yeast. It's dank and resinous, and we get flavours of apricot and peach. I really need more from this brewery!

This is an Australian NEIPA with a 5.8% ABV. It pours with a very cloudy and thick appearance, and has notes of fruit, biscuit and malt, with a bitter finish.

You'd have to have been living under a rock to not know who Siren are at this point. They're scattered across many supermarket shelves and you even occasionally catch them on draft in some pubs. They've done well for themselves, and one of their core beers "Lumina" is also a very popular brew amongst their fan base.

.
This takes Lumina one step further and introduces Galaxy and Strata hops to the dry hopping process. It pours yellow and opaque in the glass, and soft, hoppy and bursting with citrus flavour. It's got a well balanced body and is very sessionable.

Don't worry, the Christmas tree actually came down last week πββοΈ I just have a couple of posts to catch-up, as I've been absent since before Xmas! I was too busy getting all fat and sassy over the festive period... Now I'm busy getting all "extreme diet and sort my life out'y" in January. Except for when Ernie forcefully pulls me into the pub of course... Which some of you may have seen on my story last Saturday.

This is an 8% DIPA from Northern Monk. There's a variation of 3 cans. One is "Killing Music", one is "Killing Writing" and the other is "Killing Art". They also have different puns/taglines at the bottom. All three are very true. The beer itself is the same from what I can see, regardless of which label you had. The best bit about it? All proceeds are donated to the Faith in Futures partner, Pyramid Arts, which helps people with disabilities to discover their talents... and we all love a charity beer, don't we? But the great message and awesome charity work isn't the only thing good about this beer; it tastes amazing too. We get aromas of grapefruit and pine, and the taste is sweet, hoppy, dank and juicy.

First things first; I want to give a trigger warning to people scrolling through the photos, as various pictures do feature my fat, toe-like looking thumb. Yes, I know it's difficult to look at and yes, I've been informed multiple times throughout my life that it reminds people of Shrek's willy (not sure why people are imagining that tbh), but it's just how I was born. Contrary to popular belief, my parents didn't smack it with a hammer when I was a baby. Also, apologies for the lack of good photos in general... It honestly wasn't a priority at this festival, we had such a blast that we forgot to take any!
.
.
Now onto the actual post. It's only a week and a half late, but on the 13th we went to the Craft Brew Festival in Wakefield. They've done various different towns and cities up and down the country from what I remember, and if you get the chance to visit one near you, then do it!! I think this is probably one of the better beer festivals I've been to in my time (and I've been to my fair share!). The tickets were Β£45 each, which is already a decent entry fee... But the best thing about it was that it was all inclusive once you got in. Β£45 to drink as much as you like, and you had 5 hours to do it! There was an awesome selection of breweries there, featuring Piglove (one of my all time faves, I love you guys), Lost Cause, Ossett Brewery, Atom, Silent Mill and loads more. There was also a selection of wines, ciders and prosecco (also included in with the price). There were food trucks outside which understandably weren't all inclusive, but they were worth the price and wait.
.
.
They threw an awesome party with some great singers and bands. Honestly, it was a great day. The organisers of this event really knew how to do a beer festival! We will certainly be attending again next year!
.
.
Cheers, and cheers to everyone we saw there! π»

It's safe to say that I've already reached the point of December where I don't even know what day it is anymore. I think it's a new record for me; normally the fog doesn't hit until at least after Christmas. I haven't even broken up from work yet! (Spare a thought for those of us working up until Xmas eve). A wise guy once said that the best way to cure the Christmas brain fog is to drink more beer and Bailey's and eat more chocolate. Apparently moaning to your other half thrice a day about how much weight you've put on over the last two months will provide some mild temporary relief too... just be sure to do it whilst drinking tanks of alcohol and stuffing your face with chocolate. And yeah, that wise guy might have been me.

This is an 8% DIPA from Full Circle and apparently at the time of taking the photo I was incapable of even turning the can to face the correct way. It's very thick and very strong in flavour, boasting notes of grapefruit, lime, mango and a hint of coconut. Overall, an absolute beauty of a beer to drink in front of the Christmas tree.

When people say "it's not grim up North", they're liars. Even with heavy editing and filters applied, it's still very f**king grim to be honest. Proof is in the photo. But we wouldn't have it any other way, would we? And it's still a beauty of a view from the top of Langsett reservoir regardless.

This is a beer all the way from the (much less grim) country of Argentina. My Spanish isn't amazing, but a bit of research tells me that "Citas a Ciegas" translates to "Blind Dates" in Spanish, where the "Ciagas" part means "blind". So with that in mind, I'm going to take an educated guess that the name here is a bit of a play on words. "Citra" being used here, which is (as you all know) a very common hop. It also happens to be the only one used in this beer. The beer is dank, soft and juicy with notes of citrus and mango. Not a bad beer at all, although probably better enjoyed in the sunshine of Argentina than the fog and mist of Yorkshire.

I did originally make a video for this similar to the one I made when we first arrived there but decided I'd just go with a good old post instead (I like the sound of my own voice and I end up rambling too much in videos).

We're home now and have been for a couple of weeks. If you're wondering if we're glad to be back, we are not. Its the exact opposite. We're gutted, and we would do anything to go back! And we wouldn't have even come back at all if it weren't for brexit!

The whole experience was amazing. It taught me a lot and we had so many great times and made amazing memories. We consumed a ridiculous amount of beer and played a lot of bowling. We mostly drank lager, which was actually a bit sickening but we kept ploughing through nonetheless. I feel like I grew a little wiser and laid back over our time there. The Spaniards have no time for worrying about pointless bullshit and although I haven't mastered the art fully just yet after only 3 months, the seed was planted.

.
God knows how Brydie managed to put up with me for all that time. It was very full on and we only really had each other, meaning we were literally around one another 24/7 for the whole time. It came with its challenges but we actually coped very well and pulled through incredibly smoothly. Maybe that was with a little help from the beer too though π
.
.
We do have Dublin to look forward to in October but we aren't really allowed to go to the rest of Europe now until next year (Rep. of Ireland don't have the same 90 day EU restrictions). We've discussed maybe doing something like this again as soon as we can, maybe even somewhere in the UK but it's hard to know what to do for the best with Brydie struggling to work remotely and also trying to plan for buying a house soon too!
.
.
One thing I will say is that it's good to get back to some proper craft beer! Can't wait to start drinking and posting some juicy DIPAs and TIPAs over the coming weeks!
Today was definitely the most challenging walk we have done yet. Climbing up the side of Cautley Spout was such an experience and definitely wasn't a challenge for the faint hearted. Walking along really narrow ledges with deadly drops and going on a very steep and high incline up the side of the waterfall had me almost in panic mode a few times. It's actually 200 metres high and pretty much a vertical climb. It's the 3rd highest waterfall in the UK. We made it up, and we made it to the trig point, which was also a real challenge to find and about an extra mile more of incline after we'd made it up the waterfall. Around 4pm, way up, literally within the clouds of North Yorkshire, we had completed the walk and finally began our steady descent.
.
.
.
Once we got onto safe ground, surviving such an experience meant only one thing... I needed a beer! Lucky for me, I'm a beer blogger that enjoys taking beers on walks with me to get pictures of them, so I had a few with me. This LupulusX being one of them. I had the Ekuanot LupulusX pretty recently and whilst it was nice, I didnt think it was groundbreaking. I'm not sure if it was the taste of life that made this one feel so much better but I really enjoyed this one a lot more. Motueka has an ABV of 5.4% making it the ideal candidate for a descending drink as I wasn't sure what else awaited us... Its very fruity with a beer with Melon coming through as the main flavour and grapefruit on the finish. Its nice and hoppy and obviously feature only the Motueka hop with this being part of the single hop series LupulusX. A fantastic beer... I'll be continuing my journey trying more from this series.
