Excited that she was available to do my makeup for the awards show! 🥰🙏

I found her when I was A- searching Instagram for LA based makeup artists and B- watching DWTS for the first time bc of MomTok. She’s incredible. Highly recommend.

(Plus who doesn’t love a little Freaky Friday audio?!)

I was recently in LA and I’m here to tell you why. In January we submitted our Boot Barn corporate headquarters project with the architect and builder for an award. Not just any award- an IIDA (international interior design association) Calibre Award via the Southern California chapter. We were notified that our project was a finalist in the XL Workplace category, so we flew out for the ceremony. We added a few days to our itinerary to explore design showrooms, eat well, and sneak in a little horseback ride.

While Boot Barn did not win the award, the project will always be so much more to me than simple aesthetics or an award.

✨The best feeling by far was when I attended their Grand Opening event. I got to see the teams IN their space and showing it to their loved ones. My heart was so happy. This is why I design: so that the people who use the space, love the space. That is a feeling no award can give me.✨

For me it’s about storytelling, inspiring, sharing the brand story via the 3D built environment, and the incredible hard work it takes to turn ideas into reality.

Celebrating the Boot Barn nomination was great. Whether it won or not 🤎 I am so proud of our team and everyone who worked together on that incredible space. It is truly one of a kind.

I’m thankful for the few inspirational days in LA. We mainly explored Santa Monica and Venice. I love classic cars and there were plenty around for me to drool at.

My restaurant recommendations are:
for the best breakfasts (they also serve all other meals, but their GF waffles are my favorite)

is incredibly fresh. Their salmon salad is my favorite.

for atmosphere with a side of fine dining 🥩

for GIGANTIC portions of incredible Mexican food

Just for fun:
•Go horseback riding in the Hollywood Hills with

•Ride the ferris wheel on the Santa Monica Pier.

•Stop in at the in Venice and buy yourself a gift. I bought myself a sheer zebra skirt that I used as a swimsuit cover up. Love!

Inspired spaces inspire people 💫

At our Boot Barn project, this second floor break room blends rich red tones, leather accents, and warm wood finishes to create an environment where creativity and connection come naturally.

We set the mood for this area from the very beginning in the conceptual stage and followed through to the final install — through many stages of construction check ins and dealing with discontinued fabrics, finding replacements, and a few rounds of shop drawing submittals — all to get us to that final image. And she’s a beauty ❤️

Fun fact: the original fabric for the swivel lounge chairs was discontinued and we searched the globe for the perfect replacement. We ended up with this abstract feather pattern and it fits perfectly. Each piece of a room is like a puzzle. It has to work with every single other element. The color, scale and “business” of the feather pattern balanced with the crushed velvet of the bench, and the tiny micro pattern of the wallpaper. It was the perfect fit ✨

It is all about balance.

Where western heritage intersects with the modern workspace.

When we were designing ‘s corporate headquarters, we wanted it to feel warm, inspiring, grounded in nature and functional.

✨We specified ‘s Beam Acoustic Ceiling Baffles - bringing comfort, texture, and sound absorption into the workplace.✨

We loved the warmth and the visual texture that their “Planked Oak” color gave the space. 🪵

It complimented the other other warm elements we had in the space, and helped with noise management. 🔊

The integrated lighting feature is an incredible added bonus that ensures the work place is well lit AND it combines with daylight systems to lower the building’s total energy costs. 💡💰

Buying antique pieces is paramount for me. Why? Because antique and vintage pieces have lived a past life and have a unique story to tell. They are conversation pieces, and usually one of a kind. They are not mass produced plastic.

All of the pics in these slides are from some of my past trips to Round Top in Round Top Texas. Have you been?

Do you know that I love Round Top so much that I made a custom map of all my favorite places? Yes. It’s in my Round Top highlight bubble. I add 1 or 2 places every time I go. But it’s filled with my tried and true favorite spots. 🤎

•If you plan to go to Round Top, rent a car because it is not walkable. 🚗 Vendors are spread out across many miles and between a few towns.

•Book your accommodations as far in advance as possible- a year or more is suggested 😅

•Pack your walking boots and solar phone chargers because the cell service is TOUGH and drains your battery FAST. 📲🪫

•I also schedule with a freight company before I go. They send me custom tags that I place on items once I purchase them. Then we log it in their app, they come pick it up. We pay for either a half or a whole truck and pay mileage and fees to our pre-designated warehouse near our client’s project.

Round Top isn’t about buying more - it’s about buying smarter, and working efficiently. Especially when you’re a designer shopping for clients like I do.

You can shop with confidence when you’re shopping with strategy and efficiency in mind. I always arrive to Round Top with everything I need in a binder. 📖✅ I have a list of what I’m looking for, measurements of the room and the size of piece that fits that specific space, budget per room and overall project budget to ensure we stay on track. 💳🤓📈

Sure you can go and just enjoy the experience! But I’m there to find perfect pieces that my clients will enjoy forever.

💋I’m not forking out money not knowing if it will “work” or fit. I’m there with a plan and a purpose.💋

One last tip: when you spot the right piece, buy it fast! Because the best pieces sell quickly.

Thrilled to finally tell you… we designed ‘s new corporate headquarters! To say that it was an honor to work on this project is an understatement. It’s truly something that I’ll treasure forever. I could not have done it without the one and only giving me a chance. Thank you and your team at Boot Barn for letting us help bring your dream to life.

A project and client as special as these do not come around often. This was a once in a lifetime opportunity.

Thank you to for being a great architect to work with on this project. Thank you to for being the most patient contractor and for all the subs who had exquisite attention to detail.

Thank you to for stepping up to the challenge of creating a 4 story indoor waterfall that never ceases to amaze anyone who walks through the door. And to for flawlessly integrating both real and faux boulders.
for bringing in trees and making all of our mossy dreams come true!

Huge thanks to the ladies on our team and to everyone who helped bring this to life. I’ll be telling my grand kids that we were a part of this project- I’m sure!

To Michael and Sarah with and at Boot Barn, thank you for making the process of custom furnishing a 118,000 SF space feel smooth and easy. Your communication skills and attention to detail are UNMATCHED. I’m beyond thankful that we had the opportunity to work alongside you. We’re better designers because of it.

When Isha said she wanted the space to “feel like a modern Montana lodge at dusk, but make it gothic sexy cowgirl,” I knew this would be the most creatively rewarding project I’d ever be a part of. After 12 years in the interior design business, I still get butterflies in my stomach when it all comes together and I see the people actually using the space we designed.

To everyone at Boot Barn, I hope your space feels like you stepped through a portal into the west; a fully immersive experience that is authentically aligned with the brand you built. Cheers 🖤

I often say that what I do is art. I curate the interior environment where people live, work and experience life. When I pitched the idea of a stampede of horses made out of thousands of tiny mosaic tiles to it was all in my head. I showed her a photo of a tiny bathroom with mosaic fish on the floor and said, “This, but imagine it’s large running horses.” She immediately understood the vision and we got to work.
.
We went through tons of rendering iterations where we inspected every mane, tail and leg placement. Slide 20 is the final approved rendering. Then we put it in our 3D rendering and created the perfect size for each horse and the composition as a whole in
.
We selected the natural stones to create the correct coloration. Ordered and approved a mock up sample from the incredible tile artisans. Met on site with the talented installers to review seams, grout & finishing techniques. What an absolute dream come true! Pinch me!
.
Thank you to everyone who worked tirelessly to bring this vision to life, and thank you to everyone who lets me do what I love for a living. 🖤
.
For those asking- YES these are individual pieces of hand cut tiles. Cut from natural stones. Not painted.
