Would you travel off-the-beaten-path for your wedding day? The Isle of Skye might have the Instagram fame. But the Isle of Mull has a quiet beauty all of its own… 💚🌿

Frankie & George envisioned an elopement wedding day that involved nature, adventure and getting far, far away from the crowds.... So they chose to elope on the Isle of Mull for a truly away-from-all experience.

Mull really does have it all: mountains, waterfalls, incredible beaches, ancient forest, an amazing array of wildlife, and (crucially) delicious food! All excellent ingredients for an incredible elopement day…

F & G chose a cute, rustic cabin with incredible views. They spent a quiet morning listening to records, drinking coffee and wildlife spotting from their veranda before getting ready for the day. Their ceremony spot involved a short hike to a really off-the-beaten-track location, where the only onlookers were wild deer. 🦌

Their ceremony was simple, meaningful and hilarious and heartfelt in equal measure. Then we enjoyed a picnic on the mountainside, before heading-off to explore more cool spots on the island. We made a pit-stop at a cosy pub for dinner and a celebratory drink, before heading to a quiet cove to watch the sunset over the sea, listening to the oystercatchers calling out over the waves.

It really was an incredibly special day, and one that felt so right for Frankie & George. We’re all for making your elopement wedding day unique and special to you! So feel free to throw-out anything that you’ve seen on Pinterest, and dream-up a day that’s completely reflects who you are as a couple! 🌿
WINNER: Best Couple Portrait 🎉 This week we received the exciting news that one of our photos was selected as a winner in the Best Couple Portrait category at the prestigious Way Up North Awards! We’re so stoked to have one of our images in the line-up with some incredibly talented photographers from all around Europe.

WUN said: “This is the most competitive category we have in the WUN Awards. Two people, one frame, and the bar is whether the photograph still moves someone in forty years... Best Couple Portrait drew its biggest field of submissions in this most recent round. A couple portrait that earns its place does so because the couple let you in for a moment, and you gave them something back...”

This moment as Emily & Connor got ready for their Glencoe elopement last October spoke to us from the moment we saw it. The quiet intimacy and calm anticipation for the day ahead can really be felt here. Sometimes it’s not the most spectacular photos that end-up being favourites from a wedding day... the quiet ones have their own power, too.

Huge thanks to and the judges for including us in this year’s selection. 🙏

Was this your winning frame from Emily & Connor’s day? Or would one of their other images get you vote? Tell us below! 🤗
This is your sign to Elope in Scotland amidst the mountains! 🏔️🎉🌿

A few quiet moments from Elena & Jacob’s beautifully misty-moody spring elopement wedding on the Isle of Skye.
A glimpse into Sarah & Alex’s wild & windswept Isle of Skye elopement! 🌿

Alex & Sarah have the sweetest ‘high school hangs to lovers’ story... a tale that played-out over 17 years! At their first chance encounter, 14 year-old Sarah saw a 15 year old Alex carrying a skateboard at the end of her street. Mistakenly thinking he was one of her friends due to his skater boy haircut, she enthusiastically called Alex by the wrong name! Sarah then forced Alex to become her friend, unabashedly giving him her number from her Nokia phone. They spent the rest of that summer watching movies, meeting each other for walks, and pretending that they knew how to skateboard.

Their first “official” date was in 2013 at the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo... They didn’t have another “official” first date until 2023! But they still remember the embarrassment they felt after a scolding from their art teacher, who told them to get on with “less flirting and more art.”

These two have known each other—as neighbors, classmates, and eventually as a couple—for almost two decades. When the time felt right for them to get married, eloping just felt fitting. They envisaged a day that was a balance between fun/adventure and sweetness and softness where the pacing is just right. That’s exactly what it was... ✨

We LOVE a secret elopement! Jessi & Ben travelled from Australia to the Isle of Skye in Scotland to get married in a way that felt adventurous, personal and so right for them. They kept this a secret, sharing their exciting news only after the event.

Jessi & Ben chose to elope because: “We wanted something that belonged entirely to us, a secret celebration that only we would fully understand. Because we know each other so well, we also know that escaping into the mountains to elope — just the two of us — is the truest expression of who we are. Neither of us enjoys being the center of attention; instead, we find our peace in nature. What could be more romantic than saying our vows surrounded by the wild beauty of Scotland? The idea of promising forever in that landscape feels like something from a storybook. “

Honestly, Jessi & Ben’s day had a storybook quality about it from start to finish. These two are the epitome of “marry your best friend”, as became very clear during their heartfelt and emotional ceremony. It was really beautiful to see two people feeling so connected, so safe and so seen by each other.

If the idea of a big wedding, and walking down the aisle scares the sh*t out of you, running away to get married in the mountains could be the perfect solution. Question is: would you tell anyone, or would you keep it a secret? 🤫
Worried about taking time-out of your wedding day for couples photos away from your guests? Here’s why taking some quiet time together, away from your guests, is *always* a great idea!

Fran and Zak met at Cambridge University, where they were both studying at Queen’s College. Their early dating days played out against the backdrop of this historic and beautiful city, which meant that it held very personal and special memories for them. So, when they eventually came to plan their wedding, holding it at Queen’s College - where it all started - felt so right for them. They invited 100 friends and family to join them for their wedding day... and we can tell you that their party was an absolute blast! But Fran and Zak were keen for some quiet time together during the day, too...

So we worked together to devise a timeline that would allow for an hour-long sunset stroll around the picturesque backstreets of the city that meant so much to them. After dinner, while their guests were relaxing in the grounds, we headed-off for a walk down memory lane. Fran and Zak had so much fun reminiscing about significant places and moments during their university years.

They returned to dance the night away with their guests. It was iconic! But when Fran and Zak messaged us the next day, they said that while they had loved celebrating with their friends and family, their favourite part of the day was the time they spent together, quietly absolubing sunset in the city.

This is something that we hear so often from our wedding couples: the parts of the day that they value and enjoy the most are the moments that they spend together. So please don’t feel guilty about factoring these into the timeline for your day! Your guests will understand and your future selves will thank you for it! #cambridgeuniversity #ukwedding #ukweddingphotographer #edinburghwedding #scotlandwedding

We have some exciting news! Earlier this week, we heard that we are Finalists in the International Wedding Photographer of the Year Awards! With hundreds of photographers submitting from 61 countries from all round the world, the standard is extremely high. So we feel extremely honoured to be amongst the finalists, with not just one… but four images! Do you have a favourite frame? Tell us in the comments! 👇

Big thanks to and to the hard-working team of judges (we know from first hand experience how difficult this job is!)

Thanks also to each of our couples for trusting us with your wedding days, and your love stories. We love how different each day is, and they reflect the unique and special connection that you have. You are the thing that makes our job endlessly exciting and creatively inspiring. We appreciate you! 💚 Katy & Jim x
This weekend, we received the amazing news that we are Europe’s Best Wedding Photographer 2024 Finalists at the Way Up North Awards! To say that we are surprised and honoured is an understatement. So we just wanted to take a moment to reflect on why this is especially meaningful to us...

Well, firstly, because you have to be nominated by another photographer/ videographer to enter this competition. We have no idea who put our name forward. But whoever it was, it means a lot to us (feel free to DM us, if it was you - we would love to know!) To know that a fellow photographer/ videographer sees something in our work that they admire is the biggest compliment.

In the next stage of the competition, the nominated photographers are asked to submit a selection of ten photos from real weddings and elopements (as opposed to styled wedding photoshoots) that they have taken over the past year. As you can imagine, selecting just ten images from the thousands and thousands of photos that we took in 2024 was quite a challenge! We spent so much time (and had quite a few arguments!) during this curation process. We wanted to share a selection of images that spanned the full story of a wedding day.

We would love to know whether you have a favourite frame? 🤗

We have been selected alongside two other incredible photographers whose work we greatly admire. So however ends-up the overall winner when the result is announced in April, it’s been an incredible experience, a useful exercise in analysing our own work and what we love in an image, and it’s made us all the more excited to get creative with our 2025 couples! We cannot wait to tell your love stories!
Our next keynote presenters bring something special to Berlin: Katy & Jim Caryl from Scotland - where science meets storytelling in the most beautiful way.

We’re always drawn to people who enter the wedding world carrying wisdom from completely different lives. That’s Katy & Jim. While they’re now among Scotland’s most sought-after wedding photographers, their paths here couldn’t be more unique. Jim traded his biochemistry career (where, fun fact, his first publications in Science and Nature were actually his photographs, not his research) for a life behind the lens. Meanwhile, Katy spent a decade crafting documentary films for the BBC, capturing intimate stories of creators like Margaret Atwood and Phillip Pullman.

What draws us to them isn’t just these fascinating backgrounds - it’s their approach. They’re not here to be the loudest voices in the room. Instead, they bring this beautiful combination of Jim’s scientific mind and Katy’s documentary instincts, focused entirely on creating something meaningful for others. That’s exactly the kind of energy we look for when building our lineup - presenters who are here for you, not for themselves.

We’re particularly excited to hear their take on GOOD ENOUGH, because when you have two people who’ve brought such unique perspectives into wedding photography, you know their insight is going to be fascinating.

Welcome to the show, Katy & Jim!
