✨ An Afternoon with Afghan Textiles ✨

I would love to invite you to join me for a special talk exploring my Afghan textile and jewellery collection, shaped through personal journeys across Eastern Afghanistan and Northwest Pakistan.

These travels allowed me to meet local artisans, learn their traditions, and collect textiles that carry stories of place, culture, and craft. During the talk, you will also have the opportunity to see and handle a curated selection from the collection.

Daniel Sean Kelly is an artist based in Leicester, who uses analogue media to express the ideas of a brain developed under digital conditions, through drawings and ceramics.

Some of his interests include; being a body in real and imagined space, objects that misbehave or communicate unreliably, and the expression of agency through material culture in post-industrial societies.

Kelly’s work rethinks how functional objects are used, and he purposely recreates normal objects as awkward, dysfunctional sculptures. He also creates drawings of figures with contorted, misshapen bodies trying to use his dysfunctional objects.

His set of jugs featured in Just Browsing each have inconveniently-placed spouts and handles, forcing users to contort their wrists to be able to pour out of the jugs. These jugs are available to purchase from our Gallery, why not take one home and see if you’re able to pour water from it?

Exhibition open Tue-Sun, 11am-5pm. Free entry.
