Back to Berlin & rehabbing a lot of athletes, doing lactate testing & verifying my coaching (yay) and also finally back to running fast on the best treadmill on earth
It’s good to be back! Buzzing for the next weeks!
All this knowledge in how humans move, the application into training and systematic thinking is the product of being an athlete, the hunger for clarity and engineering studies.
I see so many athletes in pain because a) their load management is shit and b) they do not move how they should do.
By giving them back what they are missing they don’t only learn to move & load better, but they are increasing their performance while being less limited by pain.
the expectation to PB every single race.
That’s not how competing works!
Competitions aren’t there to prove your worth. They’re there to explore where you’re at, gather experience, and learn - sometimes things go well, sometimes they don’t.
If every race has to be a peak, frustration is inevitable. Seeing competition as exploration rather than validation is what keeps you in the game longterm and actually enjoy it
Let’s spread this message & send this to someone you know who takes competing wayyyy to seriously
If you have pain or an injury in the hip/ groin region it is very likely that you are missing movement skills there. What I very often see with the athletes I work with is: 1) They lack full control in hip flexion. We are aiming for an anterior pelvic tilt here. This movement should not be demonized and without it you will never load your glutes fully (also great for booty gains) 2) Shifting In & Out of one side of the hip is cruical during gait, running and especially change of direction. EVERYONE with hip pain that I see struggles to shift to one side which ultimately impairs the pelvis’ function 3) Clean hip extension = the key to athletisism & speed. If you can not use your proximal hamstrings & glutes to extend your hip (but either extend your knee, roll your lumbar spine or whatever else strategy athletes find there) you are loosing at least 50% of your potential to accelerate & hold high speeds 4) Creating Stiffness - the number 1 thing for athletes who need to run & sprint a lot. The stiffer you are, the quicker you will come off the ground and the more tendon elastic energy you will use. Your body is equipped with these guys made from collagen so why not using them. Learn to create stiffness AT THE RIGHT TIME!
Check out if you need help with your rehab & to get from pain back to perfoming and come back stronger than before - promise!
Because it’s not just the painful area but the whole nervous system which is involved.
If you sense your pain changing and you can not find any patterns other than your stress level (already hard figuring that out), the pain is not consistent or wandering around
I would ALWAYS suspect there is more to it.
I see it in myself & my clients. All. The. Time.
Knee Session which you can do if your knee feels a bit cranky (aka has not been loaded well) - easy to add to your gym/ strength training routine
A) 3x 45sec Leg Extension ISO hold (30-60degree angle, make sure to do it heavy enough, if you shake that is good)
B1) 3x 10-12 SL Leg Extension (Full Range!)
B2) 3x 8-10 Hamstring Curls
C1) 3x 5 Slow & 5 Fast Assisted Shrimp Squat
C2) 3x 20-30 Deep Squat Jumps
Not shown but the real MVP:
D) 4x 5 heavy & slow Barbell Front Squats
-> If you are in pain, inactivity is not the option. You need to load & smartly progress this load. Otherwise getting back to the sport you love will be not possible
Send this to someone who always complains about his hurting knees

This is an observation of what I see.
When I did pentathlon we had some stress fractures in the team and everyone knew that does not mean any good.
However no one talks about what is currently happening:
People who picked up a sport as adults are getting stress fractures. There are so many of them. And this is an avoidable injury.
Social media has normalised training like an „athlete“ without having the base of one.
If you have not played any high impact sport as a child your bones are not that dense. Bone density is mostly built in childhood. Does this mean you can not run & perform in Hyrox? NO! You defo can. But stop comparing yourself to pro athletes and increase your volume to a very unhealthy & unsustainable level after 2 years of training.
I might get cancelled for pointing out the obvious but it really hurts my soul seeing all these highly motivated young people fracturing their bones because they think their value is tied to the hours of training 💔
Failed by coaches, physios & doctors I was forced to stop the sport I loved. Now I have the knowledge & experience to confidently say: this would not have been necessary.
That’s the reason why I built the support system I never had. To get athletes back to their sport ❤️🩹
Today - Day 2 - was about the shin, the knee and the foot. And when you add those 3 together, you get quads that are going to blow.
