I’m over the moon with how it’s turned out. See last pic for estate agent pic and what it looked like when I first moved in last June.

The skirting boards were missing, the ceiling was badly in need of attention and it desperately needed some warmth injecting but the flagstones with underfloor heating; Neptune wooden cabinets; and panelling made me love it.
A year later and the ceiling’s been replastered, the base cabinets and panelling have all been sanded and repainted; I’ve changed the colour of the open shelving; swapped the ceiling lights out; sanded and re-oiled the worktops (which had several burn marks and were very orangey); and polished up the brass handles which were pretty grim.
Adding all my treasures (substitute ‘crap’ if you’re a minimalist) has just made it feel so much warmer and given it character.

My original plan for half-term was to decorate my dressing room but I’ve now decided to do my bedroom instead.
I discovered that my vintage £2 a roll Sanderson wallpaper, works perfectly with my new bedding etc. my only worry is that there won’t be enough it. I do have an idea that may work though 🤞
Enjoy your week!

I’ve hit the stage here of feeling rather overwhelmed. When I first moved in I had all the major things that needed doing such as the repointing, windows & doors, various electrical things, and a few radiators changed. I loved the dining room as it was, so that didn’t need much decision making, the kitchen I knew what I wanted to do and have nearly finished. However now I’m coming to actually decorate other rooms, I’m at a blank. Even trying to just address one room individually hasn’t really helped, so a week off to not just have to think about decisions in the evening or weekend, will hopefully help.

The woodburner doesn’t work, the previous owners said it didn’t work even when they bought the house but it’s a lovely feature on its own, and I agree.
This chimney breast and inside the fireplace were horrific when I moved in and I thought I’d have to get them replastered but after several boxes of filler and hours spent sanding, they’re now so much better. The plates were all thrifted finds I’d brought from my previous house and I thought that was the perfect place for them.
The original cupboard was also in a very sorry state but again with some tlc, I think I’ve revived it successfully.
I love this room and find it so serene. The walls were already F&B shaded white, a colour I find that varies between a warm taupe and sometimes even a green depending on the time of day, so I just gave it another coat of the same to freshen up. I overpainted the white ceiling and above the picture rail in F&B Pointing to give it warmth (which is probably the most daring you’ll see me go with a ceiling)!
Visually I think the room would have looked amazing with just bare floorboards, but it was already carpeted with a lovely quality wool one which works for insulation purpose so it will stay.

I bought this Edwardian cabinet 4 years ago from FB for £35 from an elderly couple who said it had been in their family for years. When they asked if I had plans for it, without thinking I cheerfully said ‘paint it black’ and then, looking at their reactions, promptly wondered if I should have checked first if there was a defibrillator nearby.
Anyway, I painted it black and lined with a ticking stripe wallpaper and have loved it ever since.
On moving in day the removal guys weren’t convinced it was going to fit here (after none of my other furniture had fitted in any of the other alcoves I’d planned for them to go), but thankfully it was the perfect fit and it’s not going anywhere else anytime soon.

After the heavy flooding locally, the continuous rain, and the forecast much of the same, these tulips are just a little reminder that spring will come (even if they’re not real)
I’m currently frustrated with my living room. You know when you feel that something is just off or not working? That’s exactly how I feel about it but I’m not sure exactly why. It culminated in me taking everything off all my shelves last night, so now the room’s in complete disarray and I’m still none the wiser about how to pull it together, so I’ve walked away and hope a lightbulb moment to occur later.

I’m a self-confessed lover of autumn and winter, over and above the other two seasons, however this incessant rain is even getting me down now!
This shot at the moment makes the room seem so grey yet it’s really not! When the sun shines it has a lovely warm feel (from what I remember at least).
This is the other side of my dining room with a glimpse of the panelled bi-fold doors - one of the many features I loved when viewing the house.
The table and chairs are old FB bargains that I stained and painted, although the table top will be getting a re-sand and finish as soon as the weather’s dry enough to take it outside, I would prefer it to be lighter now. I made the chair cushions myself (reel on how, if interested just scroll back through). The picture frames are all charity shop finds that I just swapped the existing pictures out for those that I liked.
