Moving to El Salvador was the best decision I ever made, but I donβt think moving abroad is the right decision for everyone.
Not because El Salvador isnβt beautiful.
Not because it isnβt full of heart.
Not because it isnβt worth it.
But because moving to another country requires something most of us were never really taught how to do:
Let go.
You have to let go of the idea that your way is the default.
You have to be willing to be a guest.
You have to listen before speaking, adapt before criticizing, and respect what existed long before you arrived.
After 15 years of living in El Salvador, I can honestly say this country changed my life.
I came here for work.
I stayed for love.
And somewhere along the way, El Salvador became home.
So if you are thinking about moving to El Salvador, or moving abroad anywhere, come with an open mind. Come with humility. Come with gratitude.
Because this country will change you if you let it.
And for me, it changed everything.
Thank you, El Salvador. Thank you so very much. πΈπ»

That is a painful truth, but it is also part of the reality many Salvadoran families lived through.
I remember decoy phones. I remember not being able to walk outside or ride public transportation without fear. I remember the rules families followed just to stay safe. And I also know I had the privilege of not being affected the way so many Salvadoran families were.
And even then, I loved this country.
Because I could see the warmth of the people, the natural beauty, and the family values that have always lived here.
For years, I wished that El Salvador could become safe for the people who deserved it most, because I knew that if this country could ever become safe, it would flourish.
And now, after living here for over 15 years, I have had the privilege of watching that wish come true in real time.
Today, El Salvador is recognized as one of the safest countries in the world, & the difference is something you can feel in everyday life.
Families go out at night. Kids play in parks. People ride public transportation, walk through towns with their phones in their hands, gather in public spaces, visit beaches, lakes, volcanoes, restaurants, festivals, & events with a freedom that once felt impossible.
Hospitals & schools are being rebuilt. Tourism is thriving & the country is now getting the reputation it actually deserves.
There is still progress to be made. There always is.
But I will never take for granted what it means to live in a country that is healing, growing, & flourishing in real time.
And I also know this:
Not everyone had the choice to stay.
Many Salvadoran families had to leave to build safer, more stable lives for their children. That takes courage & that deserves respect.
My experience moving abroad was not the same as it was for many Salvadoran families.
So if that is your story, if you or your family had to leave, I just want to say this with π
El Salvador is still here.
Still beautiful.
Still strong.
Still full of heart.
And whenever you are able to come back, even if just for a visit, it will be right here waiting πΈπ» #ElSal
Somewhere between the volcano views, the treehouse rooms, the pupusas overlooking Lago de Ilopango, and waking up in the clouds with coffee in handβ¦ I think we found it. π
πTres Piedras Hotel, El Salvador
β¨ Stay in a treehouse
β¨ Take the scenic route
β¨ Swim in an active volcano
β¨ Disconnect to reconnect
β¨ Savor the flavor
β¨ Soak it all in
β¨ Wake up in paradise
Honestly, this place felt less like a hotel and more like one of those trips that reminds you to slow down for a second and appreciate where you are.
Nestled along the Carretera PanorΓ‘mica overlooking Lago de Ilopango, Tres Piedras is one of the most unique boutique stays in El Salvador and SUCH a good option if youβre looking for:
β’ where to stay in El Salvador

Today I visited Aura Dental, a holistic dental office located in Torre Humana in San Benito, El Salvador, and honestly⦠this felt more like a wellness experience than a typical dentist appointment.
From the incredible city views to the bilingual staff and holistic approach to dental care, the entire experience felt calm, modern, and so thoughtfully done.
Aura currently offers first-visit experiences starting at just $30, including a dental cleaning and smile evaluation, which makes high-quality dental care in El Salvador feel incredibly accessible for both locals and international patients.
If youβve ever considered dental tourism in El Salvador, this is definitely worth looking into. Whether you need a cleaning, fillings, cosmetic dentistry, or more extensive dental work, El Salvador has some amazing professionals and modern clinics.
And yesβ¦ my Spanish is βnot very good lookingβ π tiny Celia Cruz nod for the ones who caught it π
This is just the beginning of my dental journey, and Iβll be sharing the process, costs, and results along the way.

Y sΓβ¦ todavΓa me equivoco.
Pero aquΓ sigo. π

I live in El Salvador πΈπ» and Iβm working on improving my Spanish, little by little.
My Spanish isnβt very good looking π
but every day I learn something new.
I truly believe this:
β¨ Being bilingual is a superpower β¨
Because trying to speak another language, whether a little or a lot,
opens the door to new friendships, adventures, amazing food,
and a whole new way of seeing the world.
And yes⦠I still make mistakes.
But Iβm still here, still trying. π
