Then 9 months later Thairapy by Jocelyn the salon was born. It held a styling chair, a sitting area chair and sink, one small mirror and two fake plantsπ
I worked so hard and gained quickly a full clientele I would soon call my friends.
Then, covid hit, shortly a year after. I was just finding my groove, my people. While the C word easily turned into my biggest distain, I can see now without that time, I would have never had the time to find myself. Covid made me go inward as well as so many others, it also made us think we were the Queen of the (green thumb jungle).
When I reopened two solid years later, the person that blossomed and reopened those salon doors was a way different person on the inside with whole lot of plants that thrived. As the inside changed so did the outside. I had lasik surgery and said goodbye to wearing glasses for 30 years. I was returning back to my reddish brown βrootsβ. I was shedding the old like a new skin and the woman I was becoming felt so different but also so right.
Finally a place where I not only could create art, but speak my truth with likeminded women. As I came into myself, so did the right clients, I was finding my people. Those four salon walls morphed into some of my most extraordinary moments to date, through deep profound conversations with strong, courageous, supportive, beautiful souls.
I remember being a support to so many of you, I thrived on it. It gave me energy to know I could be a shoulder to cry on, I remember so many times crying with you, holding your shoulders, your heads from behind.
Doing hair is artistic and fun, itβs magic. But the real magic was the connections. The things I have learned in my salon, the laughs I have shared, the advice I have given, the advice Iβve been given. All those times built up into something way more than I could have ever dreamed of.
