On the occasion of the Biennale Arte 2024, Fondaco dei Tedeschi presented the installation «Best Regards – Anonymous Project» by director and collector Lee Shulman.
«The Anonymous Project» collects and preserves color slides from the late 1950s to the 1980s that depict parties, meals, and gatherings among friends, intimate and everyday scenes portraying anonymous people, as well as the photographers who took the pictures.
With «Best Regards», Lee Shulman permeated Fondaco dei Tedeschi with an installation that occupied various spaces of the building, offering a multitude of images that take the viewer on an emotional journey through fascinating stories with a universal flavor, traces of a collective memory.

With "Radials" in 2023, the Sbagliato collective proposed two different interpretations of the same artistic idea for the fourth floor and the water loggia of Fondaco dei Tedeschi: to create unexpected "passages" within the rigid order of the architecture, inviting the viewer to choose to remain suspended between what exists and what could be.
Sbagliato reproduced and multiplied the five arches of the façade on the Grand Canal, generating an almost infinite perspective to amaze and disorient the viewer, thus overturning their perception of space and managing to blend the boundaries between fiction and reality.
On the fourth floor, the Roman collective recreated a portion of the internal courtyard: the blue-colored arches move sinuously as if submerged by water, a fundamental element of the lagoon city.

On the occasion of the Biennale Arte 2022, and thanks to the collaboration between Galleria Continua and the Leila Alaoui Foundation, Fondaco dei Tedeschi hosted the installation «Storie Invisibili/Unseen Stories».
The works of the French-Moroccan artist Leila Alaoui, who tragically passed away in 2016, were featured in various areas of the Fondaco, divided into two parts: 'Les Marocains' in the central courtyard and 'Crossings' in the Event Pavilion.
“Les Marocains”, composed of a series of large-scale photographs, revealed a mosaic of different traditions, cultures, and aesthetics of the Moroccan people through images of costumes that are gradually disappearing. "Crossings" reconstructed the experiences of sub-Saharan migrants striving to reach Morocco and the coasts of Europe through recorded images and narratives.

"Second Act", a site-specific installation by Maarten Baas from 2021, permeated the entire Fondaco dei Tedeschi, from the fourth floor to the courtyard.
The Dutch artist chose to stage four long curtains, suspended in the inner courtyard of Fondaco dei Tedeschi, which conceal a performance with an unknown plot and open suddenly and randomly.
The visitor thus becomes a spectator, partaking in an experience with an uncertain outcome, much like the one experienced during this pandemic period: «When the curtain rises, what will we see?»
On the fourth floor, "Sweepers", part of the well-known Real-Time Clocks series: mantel clocks with circular displays, where two men sweep clock hands made of dust as a symbol of the inevitable passage of time.
