Hey! Leah from Tempest Works here 👋

<< Traduction française ci-dessous >>

While our clothes are largely designed for men, I wear a lot from the shop and enjoy the creativity that comes from broadening my style options. Today we’re featuring my dear friend Victoria to show how well our pieces work on everyone.

Victoria wears Italian Donegal Corduroy Pants and Bedford Ranch Jacket (both available on our website). Her shoes are a favorite of mine, the Michael Bride, which has a belt instead of laces.

For accessories, Victoria wears the Wax Sports Cap, which we call “La Victoria,” in honor of how well she wears it. Victoria added personal touches with her own jewelry and a vintage handbag from Coach she restored herself.

With a bit of creativity, it’s easy to assemble a look that suits you, makes you comfortable, and is true to your style, no matter who the clothing was designed for.

Hey!

It’s all about the details.

But that’s the secret, it always has been.

When we reflect back on our experiences with the shop and how we decided to curate our selection, these choices always came down to the details. A fun piece of lining that only you will see. The unique choice of stitching. The subtle differences in color tones and saturation. The unique nature of artisan works. A reverse weave when the plain weave would have worked? Choice of colors based on kelp and seaweed? Yeah that’s a thing. The flamboyant details like a crazy yellow lining in a velvet jacket? Yes that’s a thing. A cowichan sweater made of 100% merino by a singe artisan in Mexico? Yes that’s a thing. We look for the details that bring joy and interest across our range of designs and styles. We celebrate the details big and small, strong and subtle. Deets deets deets.

We hope you continue to enjoy these same details for many years to come years to come, we know we will.

Thank you everyone for all your shares comments and support. It’s been amazing to see the support you have all thrown our way. The sale continues! Keep an eye on your email and check back on the website as we’ve had a few exchanges and styles from the archive 👀👀

It’s been a crazy day filling your orders and receiving you in the shop but I still wanted to get something out there for you. Like I said, we may be winding down the shop but we are gonna deal up whatever we’ve got left in the chamber. Sappy talking head video.

TL;DR:

Thank you for the overwhelming show of support you have all sent us. We have been blown away by your response ❤️

The best way to continue to support us is to like and share our website and pages or photos with friends, family, dude at the cafe who might dig our stuff. Every little bit helps.

We are going to continue to do fun stuff to celebrate #casualmenswear #modernmenswear and these amazing styles while we can. Beyond what’s in the shop we have a strong network of very awesome people with excellent personal style and we want to celebrate it all!

Thank you for the incredible messages of support.

Thank you for being part of this journey.

We have the best community and nothing will ever change that.

With love from the Kerkstraat.

Alejandro

More (not sappy) stuff to come
Hey, Tempest Works friends —

A bit of personal news from us today. We have made the difficult decision to close Tempest Works at the end of March.

When we started the shop, we had no idea we’d get to work with such incredible brands and meet such amazing customers like you. All we knew was that we wanted to bring a new perspective to fashion in Amsterdam. It’s humbling to look back on what we were able to do in just a few short years. We took a leap of faith in starting the shop, our brands and customers did the same with us, and together we created something wonderful that we’ll never forget. And now some personal factors are telling us it’s time to move on.

Although it’s sad to leave the shop behind, our strongest feeling is that of gratitude. Thank you all so much for believing in our little shop. Thank you to those who made a special trip to visit us while in Amsterdam, to the locals who regularly brightened our days, and to our online customers around the world. Thank you to our brands for being such unparalleled partners and some of our greatest advocates. Thank you to our family and friends for lifting up this dream of ours and cheering us on the whole way. The support from our community has meant everything to us, and we’re so grateful.

We’ll still be around for a bit, so if you happen to be in Amsterdam, stop by—we’d love to see you. And just because this project is ending doesn’t mean it’s the last you’ll see of us. We will be using the rest of our time and energy to celebrate the brands and styles that made this journey possible.

All this means that everything in the shop must go! We’re starting our CLOSING SALE TODAY. You can find your favorite pieces at as much as 70% off! No code needed. Come in and see us! Tell your friends! Get your favorites before they’re completely gone!

Bedankt voor alles, gracias por todo, and thank you for everything. We will miss this.

Much love,
Alejandro, Leah, and Ronson

CUSTOMER APPRECIATION 🎸

Yesterday we answered the question: do you rep the shop? Yes. Today we ask the question:

How hard do your people rep the shop?
Our answer is THIS HARD

rolling in deep with a fit fully kitted out at Tempest Works:

#norbitbyroshinozawa wool vest
#battenwear flannel shacket
#sassafras gardener denim
#paraboot avoriaz boots
#merzbschwanen bandana

Beard was thrifted, no label.

We highly endorse and encourage this level of fit. When you’ve got nice clothes, wear them. Looking for something that will last, in both wears and in style? Welcome to Tempest Works.

Tyler, thank you for your support and time. Love seeing you in the shop!
Whoa there? What’s this?

It’s me calling to upset your calm Monday evening with some spicy fits 🌶️

We are happy to present our Autumn Winter capsule selection for

Better late than never to highlight one of our favorites. This season has a solid mix of heritage country and robust technical yumminess that we love to get from Norbit. It’s across the spectrum but heck we love it. For those who haven’t had the chance to connect with these, we can only describe the feeling of wearing Norbit is like as an activity of joy 🤩

Not for the feint of fit, but definitely for all of our friends and family here at the TW. You deserve the best. Problem is figuring out which pocket you left it in…

Popover to the website to see the details in high res 🔎

Got questions on fit or styling? Hit us up, we are here to help.

Thank you 🕺 and sorry for that last one

We are very excited to present our #Paraboot selection for this season. There is no greater example of classic, casual, modern, luxury footwear, that’s still crafted with precision and love... all the attributes we look for in our partners.

Real talk: Paraboot is still one of my favorite footwear designer, ever. We can’t get enough of them and apparently neither can you.

While they are known for the classics like the Michael and Chambord, we also want the help showcase the depth and breadth of their lines. This season we decided to go for a mix, with classics like the Michael and Reims, contrasting with newcomers like the Villandry and the Michael Bride. We also picked up a few of the most excellent collaborations from #arpenteur and #engineeredgarments so you’ve got nothing to miss out on. With so much to offer we could hardly choose only one or two.

Much more to come forth soon as we dive into a proper Paraboot overview for this season, full range now available online and at our Kerkstraat showroom.

Discover your new favorites today.

Dress for the season or the weather?
🍂🌬️🌧️

Why pick? We strongly believe in doing both well, and with choices from the likes of #Venturon #Paraboot #Rototo and #Barbour there’s no need to make sacrifices either way.

Venturon AW23 captures classic menswear sprinkled with the alpine influences of the French Alps, yet elevated by the modern styles and materials. Water repellent herringbone jacket and trousers make for a wonderful match with a fleece lined vest and a quietly technical shirt. It’s hard not to want to pair these all together always. We grounded this outfit through wooly Rototos tucked into the excellent water-tight Norwegian welts of the Paraboot x Arpenteur chukkas and literally capped everything off with a waxed bucket hat from Barbour… autumn can’t stop, won’t stop you.

We love this pairing and know you will too. This is how Tempest Works.
