Dear Mwasi Global Community, Supporters, and Friends,

Mwasi exists because we dared to believe that Black people deserve places in the world where our nervous systems can exhale. Where we are not guests, not performances, not problems to be managed—but whole human beings in relationship with ourselves, each other, and the land.

But this moment is not only for reflection. It is for truth.

I have always said—clearly and consistently—Mwasi has no messiah. There is no single savior coming to fund, fix, or carry this space. If Mwasi is to survive and mature, it will be because we decided that Black healing spaces are worth our collective effort, not just our admiration.

And here is another truth: closed mouths don’t get fed.

So today, I am opening my mouth—clearly, honestly, and without apology.

We have finally received our building permits, and we will begin construction on our bungalows on June 22. This is a major milestone—one that brings us closer to long-term stability and expansion.

However, buildings alone are not the future.

Mwasi programming must be built simultaneously.

Buildings do not sustain themselves. Movements do not run on intention alone. Healing spaces require infrastructure, labor, money, and commitment. If we want Mwasi—and spaces like it—to remain alive, protected, and available to us, then now is the moment for the community to step forward, not just emotionally, but materially.

As part of this next phase, we are launching a focused capital campaign:

We are raising $500,000.

That number is not abstract. It represents 500 bookings at $1,000—500 people deciding that Black healing spaces are worth sustaining together.

This campaign will allow us to secure critical working capital, complete essential projects around the property, develop a rooftop herbal garden, build a proper gym, and begin immediate construction on six residential tents and a yoga and wellness pagoda.

Sometimes I look back on the moments I created and realize the people around me never knew how challenging it was to pull them off. At this birthday party, I could barely pay my mortgage. I chose the ice cream shop because the owner and I were friends, so she didn’t charge me. She also allowed me to bring in pizza from outside. All I had to pay for was ice cream cones for the kids.

I ordered a simple cake from Costco and asked for basic buttercream frosting. Then I surrounded it with silk flowers and crystals from my arts-and-crafts closet. I had been doing events for years, so I found purple silk and accessories and created a spring fairy theme. I decorated the ice cream shop with everything I had and ordered balloons. Solana loved it.

For years, I have been making miracles happen with what I had. It has been a powerful skill to develop, but moving forward, I claim having the resources I need in abundance so I can create without restriction. The financial constraints increased my creativity, but the resources will allow me to create beyond even my own imagination.

Solana is 18. She did it. Today, she stepped into her first truly independent decision as a young adult—a new piercing. For some, this may seem small, but for us, it’s a meaningful milestone. Since the day she was born, we’ve been on this journey together. I realized that more than love we have respect between us. She asked for this at 8. I answered 18. She never asked again, until she was 18. And she STILL ASKED. I had to absorb the blessing in that.

She went on her own, without me—surrounded by her friends and my assistant for support—but ultimately, it was her choice, her moment. A not so quiet (lol) but powerful step into her independence.
Raisa is the sweetest Southern belle! She came with her girlfriends for spring break while studying in a cooking program in France, and she’ll be back in July with her whole family. I love seeing my Southern folks exploring Africa!
Mwasi is joy.
3 INVESTMENT BUNGALOWS AVAILABLE!

Are you interested in investing in a Black-centered space for yourself outside of America, in one of the safest and fastest developing nations in Africa? An investment property that also earns income?
My husband and I are establishing a Black-centered community in Marrakech, Morocco called the Mwasi Global Community. We own a boutique hotel and retreat center called the Mwasi Healing and Restoration Center, dedicated to healing Black life, and offering opportunities for rest and restoration.

The property boasts a 10-suite villa, a spa, a fitness studio, a rooftop juice bar, pool, and the “Black Honey: Diaspora World Cuisine” Restaurant.

We are building 21 investment bungalows that will extend the accommodations available to the public, but also serve as a source of rental revenue to our community of leaders that invested in the bungalows. We have 5 remaining to sell.

When thinking about the future of Black growth & development, healing and community life are a vital part of the conversation. With escalating global tensions and a resurgence of public bigotry, Black people need options. We are offering a viable alternative to America, in one of the most stable and developed countries in Africa — Morocco.

Here at Mwasi, food is farm to table, we have daily morning walks & activations, community round table discussions on REAL topics, access to mental health therapists and resident elders. These seemingly simple elements of Mwasi is how we will begin to redefine a standard of excellence for our people. ❤️T.
One thing about dreams paired with relentless faith, hard work and a God centered life, it that what you imagine will be materialized. WE CLOSED!
