⭐️ first time cold capping for my new line of treatment - Folfiri!

I’ve almost been in the hospital 2 weeks trying to get my systems under control. I’m glad to say I am improving and should be discharged within a few days!

More to come…

❤️‍🩹 8 nights and I’m finally home staying with my in-laws in Denver.

When I was admitted on 11/24, we did not anticipate that I would be staying as long as I did. My latest CT scan showed peritoneal disease and fluid in my abdomen. My gastric symptoms mimicked gastroparesis, which is what Texas Oncology was treating me for and missed the cancer on my report. I’m thankful was able to identify the root cause to my GI symptoms and promptly started me on a new line of chemotherapy, FolFiri. I was able to get my 1st treatment while in the hospital which was a new experience for me!

💖 I’m thankful to for being diligent, their unbelievable care, and the compassion from all the medical staff.

This is another hurdle that I’ll overcome and I’m beyond grateful to have such an amazing family support system.

I’ll continue posting updates on my journey 💙

A summer of emotional healing ❤️‍🩹

Some days, the trauma feels heavier than I ever imagined it could be—and that’s okay. Healing isn’t a straight line; it’s messy, confusing, and sometimes painful. I’ve learned to live in the moment, even when the future feels uncertain, and to seize every opportunity that makes my soul feel alive.

📍 and I were fortunate to cross off three bucket list destinations this summer: Italy, Banff, & Alaska! Pure joy and forever memories.

I’ve chosen to prioritize myself, reclaim my time, my energy, my joy. This journey has taught me to take back my power, piece by piece, day by day. 💙

I’ve reclaimed my power and reshaped my view of cancer. My life is mine to live, and joy is not negotiable. Cancer may walk beside me, but it will never set my path.

If you’re navigating your own storm, know this: you don’t have to have it all figured out. Just keep showing up for yourself. Even if others don’t.
Italy, Croatia, & Montenegro 🇮🇹 🇭🇷 🇲🇪

This trip meant more than just checking destinations off a bucket list. It was a celebration of survival, strength, and starting fresh. ✨

After the whirlwind of this past year, the surgeries, the treatments, and the emotional toll of it all… this Mediterranean adventure felt like breathing again. Rome, Pompeii, Mount Etna, Mount Vesuvius, Old Town Dubrovnik, Croatia, Montenegro, and more! It was all magical. But the real gift? Reclaiming my joy and inner peace.

I’ve been focused on healing; not just physically, but emotionally. Letting go of what (and who) no longer serves me.
I’m focused on protecting my peace, pouring into self-care, and surrounding myself with people who truly lift me up. No more carrying what weighs me down. Especially not people who can’t show up with love and grace. This trip was a reminder that even after the darkest chapters, beauty and light still finds you.

So grateful Taylor and I got to share this experience together. A trip of a lifetime, at just the right time. 💙
🇮🇹Benvenuti a Roma!

Coming to Italy has been a few years in the making. We began planning our European adventure before I was diagnosed — before life got complicated.

This trip stayed quiet and close to the chest. We waited for my latest CT results before making any moves. When the scan came back with no definitive disease in my abdomen and lung nodules stable, we saw the window — and we leapt.

And now… we’re here. In Rome. Living the dream we once had to put on pause.

The first two days have been nothing short of magical:
✅ Vatican Museums & Sistine Chapel
✅ Pantheon
✅ Trevi Fountain
✅ Food tour through hidden gems
✅ Piazza Navona
✅ So much pizza, pasta & gelato — and not one bit of regret

Feeling full — in every sense of the word. 🇮🇹✨
On December 16th, I underwent a major surgery at UCHealth in Denver called HIPEC (Hyperthermic Intraperitoneal Chemotherapy). This complex procedure has two main steps: *Cytoreductive Surgery**, where the surgeon removes as much visible tumor tissue as possible from the abdominal organs, followed by *Intraperitoneal Chemotherapy**, where heated chemotherapy (at 105-109°F) is circulated throughout the abdominal cavity targeting cancer cells.

The surgery lasted over 9 hours and resulted in the removal of my gallbladder, appendix, and a full hysterectomy.During my 2-week hospital stay, I faced some complications, including a collapsed right lung, a blood transfusion, and other minor issues. After being discharged, I had the privilege of recovering at David and Judy’s home, where I was able to regain strength before returning to Waco.Since 1/7, I’ve been at home recovering from the intensive procedure.I definitely underestimated how long, difficult, and painful the recovery process would be.

I’ve been incredibly fortunate to have so many amazing people in my corner throughout this journey.David and Judy welcomed me into their home, spent countless nights with me at the hospital, and have been an endless source of support. My mom and uncle went above and beyond, booking an AirBnB right across from the hospital and taking shifts with my care.Since returning home, my mom has been an incredible caregiver.

To my amazing husband: I’m not sure I could ever find the right words to fully express the depth of my gratitude.Thank you for being my rock, my strength, and my unwavering support throughout this challenging journey.Thank you for your strength, your optimism, and for always believing in me.I look forward to every new chapter we will write together.

I will resume chemotherapy on 2/18 for a few more rounds. My oncologist at UCHealth is incredibly proactive and committed to eliminating any remaining microscopic cancer cells.I’ll continue my treatments locally at Texas Oncology.

Through all of this,I’ve learned just how strong and resilient I am.I’ve also learned to take things one day at a time and celebrate the small victories along the way. 💪
Spring in Northwest Texas

here, wanting to share an update about my wife. As most of y’all may know, she’s been battling stage 4 small bowel cancer for 3 years now and she recently underwent another surgery. The surgery was successful, with all visible cancer removed from her abdomen and HIPEC administered to address any remaining microscopic cells. During the procedure, her gallbladder, appendix, and uterus were removed.

On the first day, she was up and walking, although she experienced low blood pressure and significant pain. The pain persisted through Wednesday and Thursday but began to subside on Friday. However, she remained groggy due to the combination of pain and anxiety medications.

On Saturday, the goal is to reduce her pain medication and potentially remove the epidural by tomorrow. She has transitioned to a full liquid diet and has started taking oral medication. Due to low hemoglobin levels, she is receiving a blood transfusion.

While we remain optimistic about her being discharged by Christmas, there is still a long road to recovery ahead.
She continues to make progress each day and I’m so incredibly proud of her. Thank y’all for all the support #igtexas #smallbowelcancer
Texas Supercell ⚡️
here, with a shot I took last year in the Texas Hill Country with Jessica standing in the foreground.
I just wanted to give a little update. On December 16th, Jessica will undergo major surgery, including HIPEC, as part of her fight against stage 4 cancer. This surgery is very complex, but she’s been facing every step of this journey with a level of resilience and courage that amazes me every single day.
We’re grateful for the support of friends and family, as well as the skilled medical team making this procedure possible. And we appreciate all the positive thoughts, prayers, and messages. It means the world to us. #igtexas
Texas Supercell
I’m back for a few days to work before Jessica begins chemo next week. So I decided to go for a chase after work today.
I arrived just in time to watch it evolve into a massive supercell right in front of my eyes.

Beauty in the face of Adversity
It’s hard to articulate the range of emotions and I have experienced over the past 17 months. Through the ups and downs, it’s imperative to stay positive. As we begin the new chapter at UCHealth, that’s the daily reminder. Stay positive. Control what you can control. We are praying for a smooth surgery tomorrow with a quick recovery. We are confident in the oncology team and the treatment options they have provided. Jessica is ready to get back on the road to NED. We appreciate all the love and support 🙏🏼
Before heading up to Colorado, Jessica and I went storm chasing together last weekend. We were treated to a beautiful supercell just south of Stephenville. It was a wonderful moment to share together.
