A glimpse of the private collection of antique wall mounted skulls and frontlets. This group dates from approximately. Not for sale.
A new addition to the personal collection…has been a long time since I have posted to this account as I was waiting for something to inspire me and I think this is it. #okapi #taxidermy #raretaxidermy #taxidermycollector #naturalhistory
Shells and crustaceans not normally my thing, but…was feeling inspired. Custom commissions available in Victorian shadowbox frames. Insects, sea life, etc.
I think I found the perfect case for this 19th century gathering of French squirrels, rats, and dormice gambling at a casino. A fantastic and highly detailed anthropomorphic work in the style of Walter Potter. #antiquetaxidermy #raretaxidermy #walterpotter #oddities #curiosities
I took a break from posting to this account, but I’ve decided to fire it back up again! Beyond thrilled to add this antique Goliath grouper to my collection courtesy of with a new shield by (shown in the photo for scale) and some very sympathetic restorations by. Could not be happier with the result as I’m not sure that fish taxidermy gets any more epic than this. It’s also worth noting that this tremendous species has made an incredible comeback over the past 20 years due to conservation efforts and routinely reaches 500 pounds or more. More personal collection posts to come soon. #raretaxidermy #antiquetaxidermy #naturalhistory #personalcollection #NFS
Excited to have played a role in landing this incredible Victorian bird dome for my dear friend Sabrina Hansen at Neal Auction company in New Orleans last week. The massive dome has several extremely rare birds including the iconic Hawaiian ‘I’iwi, a pair of Kuhl’s lorikeet, and an extinct Carolina parakeet as its majestic centerpiece. Far more impressive in person, this dome joins one of the world’s elite private collections and truly deserved its lofty hammer price of $32,000 as it stands tall among the most important bird domes ever to be offered at a public auction. Congratulations again to its new owner and special thanks to for undertaking the long and perilous journey to ensure its safe arrival back in New York. #raretaxidermy #extinctspecies #victoriantaxidermy #naturalhistory
Happy Thanksgiving to all! And thanks to Rowland Ward for helping to set the table with these rare antique serving utensils crafted from lobster claws. #personalcollection #naturalhistory #raretaxidermy #oddities
