It’s not a gesture, not a smile, not a word.

In our time, kindness is rare.
It’s mistaken for weakness.
Kind people are often unheard, unappreciated, misunderstood.
Maybe because they feel too deeply,
because their hearts are open — like a raw nerve to the world.
True kindness is not pleasing everyone.
It is a choice.
To stay soft when it's easier to be hard.

I saw a woman sitting alone on the pavement in Nuremberg. Her gaze got under my skin. Not a word was spoken – and yet everything had been said.
