🌟 Throwback to a day I won’t forget. In Amsterdam, I attended a powerful event on Dalit cuisine — a cuisine shaped by history, resilience, and resistance.

Hosted by, an independent South Asian café, alongside by — a supper club celebrating authentic Indian regional cuisines — and the talented Dalit-origin chef 👨🏽‍🍳, the evening also highlighted ‘s work fighting for the recognition of Dalit food identities in casteist India.

🗣️ It was about far more than food. I also had the chance to speak about the book I’m currently working on about the impacts of food in India.

Despite some technical issues that prevented us from screening Dalit Desk’s documentary on the psychological realities faced by the Dom Dalit community responsible for cremations in Varanasi, I still had the opportunity to speak about the incredible and necessary work of by & and our collaboration together. ✊🏽

What stayed with me most was the hope 🌱
A new generation of South Asians in the diaspora refusing silence, speaking openly about caste, and reclaiming eating together as a revolutionary act — in a society where food often divides more than it unites, even within parts of the diaspora.

⚠️ Because caste violence isn’t history. It’s still present. Still systemic.

Some of us have the privilege to amplify voices and open overdue conversations. So let’s keep doing it — loudly, honestly, and without apologies!

Last weekend, Shahu Patole, Tasty Talks and Chef Teju cooked. You ate. And together we raised €335 for Dalit Desk’s independent journalism.
Couldn’t make it? The mission doesn’t need your presence — just your support.

It’s never just about the food 🤍
For me, these gatherings are about creating a space..
where people can slow down, share a table, and connect.
A little bit of nostalgia, a little bit of something new,
and somewhere in between, a sense of home.

Indian food is so much more than curries…
and through Uncurrying Indian Food, we’re here to show you how.

This time, we brought the bold, layered flavours of Rajasthan to The Hague for the very first time. 🇮🇳

Hosted at Aastha’s home, this wasn’t just a meal…
it was an experience of stories, hospitality, and dishes you rarely see on restaurant menus.

The response?
So overwhelming, we had to open two seatings... lunch & dinner.

What started as a table of strangers…
quickly turned into conversations, laughter, and second helpings.

And we all needed a walk after 🍽️🚶

Because that’s what food does.
It connects and ofcourse makes you full

This is Tasty Talks.

This little kiddo came to the registration desk at the Made By Her festival with a completed bingo and evidently very thrilled with it.
So I wanted to gift her anything that she liked from any of the stalls. She said she loved the eggplant Dil from so gave her a takeaway of that. She also bought the Made by Her bag 🥹
And a lovely coincidence - her name is Monsi (not sure if it is spelled this way)... Very similar to Manasi.

Absolutely loved meeting you Monsi 🫶🏻
Hope you come back again 🫶🏻
