I was invited to stay at a cosy little lodge and because being somewhere new always helps me feel more inspired, it felt like a great way to start the year.
The lodge is just over an hour from London, and once you’re there, it’s incredibly quiet. The weather was also SO perfect - sunny and super cold which is my favourite kind.
We went for long walks, made comfort food, watched films…nothing overly complicated.

At the start of January, I was invited by to stay in this lovely little lodge near London, Treetops at Bewl Water and I genuinely couldn’t recommend it enough!!
It’s beautifully designed, set in a peaceful spot, and easy to reach by train and taxi.
If you’re looking for a cosy stay to slow down, this is your sign to add it to your list! A few things to note:
💤 Sleeps 2 people with a minimum 3-night stay
🚆 Nearest train stations are Wadhurst or Tunbridge Wells (both with frequent services from London), followed by a short drive
🌞 It overlooks Bewl Water Reservoir with such pretty views (the light in the mornings and evenings was particularly lovely!!)
🥾 You can do walks straight from the lodge to Wadhurst village, around the reservoir, or to nearby pubs…or simply sit out on the patio and enjoy the view
🧀 There is a fully equipped kitchen for cooking delicious meals

I stayed at a cosy pub hotel in Penrith called George and Dragon in one of the Lowther rooms (their largest rooms) for 3 nights. A few things to note about the hotel:
🚆 It’s accessible by public transport as you can get the train to Penrith and a short bus or taxi to the hotel in Clifton
🎲 The pub space was my favourite part of the hotel. It’s SO cosy and welcoming and there are plenty of board games and a big fireplace
🍔 We also ate dinner in the restaurant twice which was delicious and offered generous portion sizes (one meal gifted). However, there are limited options for veg/vegan food
⛵️ From the hotel (and with proper planning), you can get the bus to lots of different places in the Lakes such as Keswick, Grasmere and Windermere
