That’s exactly how I feel about Sanremo. THE place on the Riviera of Flowers. I’d expected a sea of blossoms and a lovely seafront promenade, but didn’t find them. On the other hand, the old town and the view of the sea were quite nice
🇩🇪 Geht es Euch manchmal auch so❓Ihr seid in einem Ort, der Euch nicht so richtig überzeugt und gefällt....und wenn ihr später die Bilder anschaut denkt ihr...so schlecht war es doch eigentlich gar nicht 😜.
Genau so geht's mir mit Sanremo. DER Ort an der Blumenriviera. Ich hatte ein Blütenmeer und eine schöne Strandpromenade erwartet und nicht gefunden. Dafür war aber die Altstadt und die Aussicht auf's Meer ganz nett (wenn auch die vielen Hochhäuser nicht gerade schön sind 🫣).
Ich zeige Euch in den nächsten Posts ein bisschen etwas von San Remo. Vermutlich sagt ihr dann...ist doch ganz hübsch dort. Und ich frage mich, was genau mir an diesem Tag nicht gepasst hat 😂

I stumbled across the place on Instagram and then realised it was only a few kilometres from Apricale. So, of course, we had to go there too 😄

Den Ort habe ich zufällig auf Insta gesehen und dann festgestellt dass er nur ein paar wenige Kilometer von Apricale entfernt ist. Da mussten wir dann natürlich auch noch hinfahren 😄

🇩🇪 Apricale ist so ein wunderschöner kleiner Ort in Ligurien. Wir haben jeden Moment zwischen den alten Häusern und dem italienischen Flair genossen.
Hier gibt es Steingassen, kleinen Torbögen und Häusern, die scheinbar direkt aus dem Felsen wachsen. Auf dem Dorfplatz (Piazza Torracca) bei der Kirche spielt sich das Leben ab.

Construction began on a strategically advantageous rocky outcrop to control the river valley.
The historic centre of the village developed along narrow alleyways (caruggi) directly below the castle.
The labyrinthine architecture served as the perfect defence. The alleys wind their way up the hillside, forming a confusing network. The numerous dead ends were strategically designed to mislead, trap and thus incapacitate enemy attackers who penetrated the village. The closely packed stone houses, up to four storeys high and connected by small supporting arches, also enabled the inhabitants to defend themselves effectively against intruders from above and to protect themselves from the sun.
🇩🇪 Die Burg von Dolceacqua (Castello dei Doria) wurde im 12. Jahrhundert errichtet.
Der Bau wurde auf einem strategisch günstigen Felsvorsprung begonnen, um das Flusstal zu kontrollieren.
Der historische Kern des Dorfes entwickelte sich in engen Gassen (caruggi) direkt unterhalb der Burg.
Die verschachtelte Architektur diente der perfekten Verteidigung. Die Gassen winden sich eng den Berghügel hinauf und bilden ein verwirrendes Netz. Die vielen Sackgassen waren strategisch gewollt, um feindliche Angreifer, die in den Ort eindrangen, in die Irre zu führen, festzusetzen und so kampfunfähig zu machen. Die dicht aneinander gebauten, bis zu vierstöckigen Steinhäuser, verbunden durch kleine Stützbögen, ermöglichten es den Bewohnern zudem, sich von oben effektiv gegen Eindringlinge zu wehren und sich vor der Sonne zu schützen.
