4.5 hours sleep. Almost slept through my alarm.
Lucky my brother’s text msg woke me up lol Was running late. Made it to the start line with 2 minutes to spare. Needed the toilet but had no chance of finding one before they said 3, 2, 1 - GO! No warm up.
And this wasn’t an “easy” run either. Trail, sand, gravel, mud and road all mixed into one race. I nearly rolled my ankle just speed walking to the start line lol
But despite all the chaos…
Mentally I was ready.
Physically I was ready.
And somehow I walked away with a PB averaging 5:42/km over 30km.
That’s the part I’m most proud of. Not just the pace. Not the medal.
The fact that I’ve become the type of person who can handle uncomfortable circumstances and still show up ready to perform.
The fact that I pushed through some mental and physical barriers that used to limit me.
Because there was a time I hated running. Now I’m out here running 30kms 🙌🏽
Got home right in time for husbae and the kids waking up lol

Took my kids to pick up my race bib. They had a fight before we even got to the registration desk lol which is why Miss 3 has her angry face on. Mr 8 is taking our photo.
It may not be as smooth as other runners experience picking up their bibs but thought my kids need to see that I may be their mum but I still have my own goals I’m chasing.
Proving to them if I can do hard things then they can definitely do hard things too.
Instead of saying “I have to run 30KMs”, I am reminding myself that “I get to run 30KMs” tomorrow. I am taking myself on a date where I get to hang out with myself, where I don’t have to cater to anyone but myself and run 30KMs lol It’s going to be a mixture of trail and road running. Leshgooooooo!
