- Your breastmilk naturally adapts to provide more hydration when it's hot, so your baby doesn't need to drink water but they may feed more often.
- Make sure that you keep yourself well hydrated - dehydration and heat exhaustion can affect your milk production.
- If skin to skin contact whilst feeding is a bit too sweaty, try a different position like side lying, so that your bodies aren't as close together.

Challenging - both my breastfeeding journeys were pretty hard in the early weeks, especially with my eldest. Both babies had tongue ties and reflux (one silent and one definitely not silent!). But gradually, and with the right support, feeding them became much easier and a bonding experience with them that was worth the initial pain and sleepless nights.
Beautiful - I had to include this one as I truly believe that breastfeeding is a beautiful thing, nurturing your child with your own body is special, which leads me on to the last word...
Memorable - Although my years of breastfeeding are now over, I treasure both my journeys so much. Breastfeeding genuinely changed who I am as a person, I have never been so determined to do anything in my life! I collected lots of enamel pins to celebrate my feeding journeys and looking at them all on my pin board still brings me so much joy 😊

So, I present Orangutans - one of our closest living relatives and an animal that typically continues breastfeeding until between 6 and 9 years. No-one bats an eyelid at an orangutan nursing her child, yet a human breastfeeding beyond infancy seems to attract raised eyebrows and some quite frankly unhinged comments.
The World Health Organization recommends breastfeeding for 2 years and beyond, alongside complementary foods. Human milk doesn’t suddenly lose nutritional or immunological value after baby turns one.
