I haven’t been able to put into words until recently why I dislike AI in the art world so much. In my opinion, AI is used to make things more efficient. And I understand that in certain spaces, AI can be an incredible tool. I’m not going to get into the awful environmental impact AI as a whole is having, especially because Aftershoot and systems like theirs run only on your computer and their impact is different (thankfully way better!) than ChatGPT and the other systems that are quite literally taking people’s drinking water, especially is rural regions prone to droughts.
I digress… 😅
But with art, I think efficiency is the absolute worst priority to have. Of course, we want certain parts of our business to be efficient. But when it comes to the physical artwork itself, efficiency should not be the goal. Especially when you’re working with humans, and real life moments. Beauty, creativity, depth, appreciation for life, emotion, authenticity… that is the goal.
And if you are stepping into the art world, whether photography or another medium, with the goal of being as efficient as possible with your art, you’re going to miss the heart of it. Passion and purpose get lost in the process when efficiency becomes the priority.
So when you consider using AI to pick your art, to choose which images matter, I challenge you to go back and look at your favorite photos you’ve ever taken. Look at the ones your clients share online. The ones they print. The ones their parents and grandparents print. Then, ask yourself… would you risk those images not making it into the gallery because a robot decided they were not “quality” enough, all in the name of efficiency?
And on the best days, you can feel it everywhere… in the hugs, the happy tears, and the helping hands. As photographers, we get to witness so many of the quiet moments happening around the couple, moments they may not even see in real time. From the outside looking in, it’s incredibly heartwarming to watch the people they love show up for them in such meaningful ways.
That kind of love is such a privilege to seek out and observe, with the opportunity of turning it into art.

Aaron and I met at the University of Utah in 2014, and after years of dating, adventuring through the West, moving across the country to Rhode Island, getting married, and changing careers, here we are. For the last 6+ years, we’ve had the honor of documenting weddings and elopements together.
This past January, we welcomed our second daughter into the world and have been adjusting to life as a family of four. In the middle of this new season of life, we’ve decided to shift things a bit around here. This page is now our photo-only space, dedicated to weddings, elopements, and portraits.
While this account will focus on photography, we are still taking on a limited number of wedding films. If you’re looking for video work from us, you can find that side of our storytelling at.
As we step into this next season, I’m feeling so grateful for every couple who trusts us with such meaningful parts of their lives. At the heart of everything we create is a belief in presence, vulnerability, and connection. Our work has never been about perfect poses or polished performances. It’s about the feeling behind it all. The quiet, the chaos, the beauty, and everything in between.
We don’t just show up with cameras. We show up fully, ready to celebrate you and document your story with care, intention, and heart. We believe your love is art, and we want to preserve it in a way that feels timeless and true to you.
