01｜撮影時の意識 / Shooting
撮影の段階から、ハイライトよりもシャドウの割合を大きくし、画面全体に暗い部分を多く残すことを意識しています。
その中で、見せたい部分にだけ光が当たるように構図や光の向きを調整します。
今回は顔に光を集めることで、暗さの中でも自然と視線が人物に向かうようにしています。

In this photo, I focused the light on the face, naturally drawing the viewer’s attention to the subject.

02｜トーンカーブ / Tone Curve
まず、中間調からシャドウにかけてトーンカーブを下げ、暗い部分に深みを加えます。
ただ、暗くするだけでは黒がつぶれ、質感まで失われてしまいます。
そこで、トーンカーブの左端にあるブラックポイントを少し持ち上げ、黒をほんのりグレーに近づけます。
こうすることで、深い影を残しながらも、わずかに質感が感じられる柔らかなフェードを加えています。
First, I pull down the tone curve from the midtones into the shadows to create deeper, richer dark areas.
However, simply darkening the image can crush the blacks and remove important details.
To avoid this, I slightly lift the black point at the bottom-left of the tone curve, turning pure blacks into subtle dark grays.
This creates a soft, faded look while preserving a hint of texture within the deep shadows.

03｜基本補正 / Basic Adjustments
トーンカーブで影を深くした後は、基本補正で全体の明暗バランスを整えます。
まず、光が当たっている部分が適切な明るさになるように、露光量を少し上げます。
そのままだと暗部が重く、コントラストも強く感じられるため、黒レベルを持ち上げて調整します。
明るい部分はしっかり見せながら、暗い部分にはグラデーションを意識しましょう！
「便利だから」だけじゃない気がしました。
引きたいと思ったら引く。
寄りたいと思ったら寄る。
その時の自分の感覚を止めずに、
リズムよく撮り続けられる。
僕はたぶん、そこが好きなんだと思います。

It’s not just because it’s convenient.
I can go wide when I feel like going wide, and move in closer when the moment calls for it—without breaking my rhythm.

撮影中って、
「今、引きたい」って思う瞬間が急に来る。
Sometimes, in the middle of a shoot, I suddenly feel like stepping back.
その次の瞬間には、
表情をもっと近くで撮りたくなることもある。
And the very next moment, I might want to get closer to the expression.
そのたびに撮影を止めなくていい。
この「止まらない感じ」が、
僕には結構大きい。
I don’t have to stop every time my perspective changes.
That sense of flow matters a lot to me.
僕は撮影中、
最初から全部の構図を決めているわけじゃない。
目の前を見ながら、
「今こっちかも」って変わっていくことが多い。
I don’t plan every frame before I shoot.
A lot of it changes as I watch what’s happening in front of me.
だから、レンズに合わせて撮るというより、
自分の感覚にレンズがついてきてくれる方が好き。
Rather than adjusting myself to the lens, I like when the lens can keep up with what I’m feeling.
引きも、寄りも。
どっちも同じ撮影の流れの中にある。
Wide or close, they’re both part of the same rhythm.
24-70mmは、
たくさんの画角が使えるレンズというより、
自分のリズムを止めずに撮れるレンズ。
今の僕には、そこが一番心地いい。
To me, a 24–70mm isn’t just a lens with lots of focal lengths.
It’s a lens that lets me keep shooting in my own rhythm.
And right now, that feels just right.
もちろん好きです。
でも最近は、
撮影の合間にふっと笑った瞬間とか、
次の場所へ歩き出した時とか、
何かを話している途中とか。
そんな「撮られてる」を少し忘れた瞬間に、
シャッターを切りたくなることが増えました。
たぶん僕が残したいのは、
ただ綺麗に写っている姿だけじゃなくて、
その日の2人の距離感とか、
普段どんなふうに笑っているのかとか、
ちょっとした仕草や癖みたいなもの。
写真を見た時に、
その人の声まで思い出せそうな一枚が好きなんだと思います。
ただ、
「自然な写真を撮りたい」って言っても、
何も声をかけずに待っていれば
自然になるわけでもなくて。
歩いてもらったり、
少し話してもらったり、
一緒に何かしてもらったり。
きっかけはこちらから作りながら、
その中で生まれた予想していなかった瞬間を残す。
最近は、
そんな撮り方が自分には合っている気がしています。
何年か経って写真を見返した時に、
「この時こんな笑い方してたな」とか、
「こんなふうに歩いてたな」とか。
その日の記憶まで一緒に戻ってくるような写真を、
これからも残していきたいです。

「撮って出し」と「レタッチ後」を並べてみました。

カメラが残した色と、
僕が残したかった色は、少し違う。
What the camera recorded and what I wanted to remember aren’t always the same.
明るくしたいわけでも、
派手にしたいわけでもない。
It’s not about making it brighter or more dramatic.
光を見た時の眩しさまで、
写真に残せたらいいなと思う。
I want the photo to hold the brightness I felt in that moment.
写真には写っていなくても、
撮った僕の中には残っているものがある。
Some things may not appear in the photo, but they still remain in my memory.
レタッチしながら、
「あの日はこんな感じだったな」って
思い出していることが結構あります。
While editing, I often find myself remembering how that day actually felt.
撮って出しが間違いで、
レタッチ後が正解というわけでもない。
The original isn’t wrong, and the edited version isn’t necessarily right.
僕にとってレタッチは、
写真を別物にする作業じゃない。
自分がその場で感じた景色に、
少しずつ近づけていく作業。
For me, editing isn’t about turning a photo into something else.
It’s about bringing it a little closer to how that moment felt.
撮る前も、撮っている時も、
撮り終わって写真を見返した時も、
僕にとってどこか安心できる焦点距離です。
今回は20枚の写真と一緒に、
そんな50mmについて少しずつ書いてみました。
Somehow, I find myself reaching for 50mm whenever I’m unsure.
Before the shoot, while I’m shooting, and even when I look back at the photos afterward, 50mm somehow feels like a focal length I can trust.

「今日はどう撮ろう」って迷う日ほど、
50mmをつけると少し気持ちが落ち着く。
On days when I’m not quite sure how I want to shoot,
putting on a 50mm lens somehow settles me.
普通に話せるくらいの距離で撮れるのが好き。
近すぎず、離れすぎず。
この距離が、たぶん僕には心地いい。
I like being close enough to talk naturally while I shoot.
Not too close, not too far.
That distance just feels right to me.
画角のことを考えすぎず、
目の前の人に集中しやすい。
それも50mmを選ぶ理由なのかもしれない。
I don’t have to think too much about the frame,
so I can focus more on the person in front of me.
Maybe that’s another reason I keep choosing 50mm.
撮影が終わって写真を見返した時も、
不思議と「これでいいな」と思えることが多い。
派手じゃないけど、落ち着く。
Even when I look back at the photos afterward,
I often find myself thinking, “Yeah, this feels right.”
Nothing flashy. Just comfortable.
50mmは、
僕が迷った時に戻ってこられる距離。
たぶんこれからも、
何度もここに戻ってくると思う。
50mm is the distance I can always come back to.
And I think I’ll keep coming back to it again and again.
最近、
「綺麗な写真を撮りたい」よりも、
ちゃんと動きそうな写真を撮りたいと思うようになりました。
写真は止まっているのに、
次の瞬間に笑い声が聞こえそうだったり、
このあと二人が歩き出しそうだったり。
そんな、写真の外側まで想像できる一枚に惹かれます。
昔は、構図が整っているとか、
光が綺麗とか、
「完成された一枚」を残したい気持ちが強かった気がします。
でも最近は、
少しくらい形が崩れていても、
その瞬間にしかなかった動きや空気が残っている方が好き。
この写真も、
二人が傘の下で話している途中の一瞬。
何を話していたのかまでは写らないけど、
写真を見ると、その時間がまだ続いているように感じる。
止まっているのに、その先が見える。
今は、そんな写真をもっと撮りたいと思っています。
「見栄えがいいだけの写真を撮ることについて」
思うことがあります。
もちろん、
綺麗な光も、整った構図も、
思わず目を止めるような色も好きです。
僕自身、そういう写真を撮りたくて
何度も試してきました。
でも、見栄えを気にしすぎると、
いつの間にか
「この場所なら映える」
「この構図ならウケそう」
「この色なら綺麗に見える」
そんなことばかり考えている自分がいる。
そして撮ったあと、
写真は綺麗なのに、
なぜかあまり覚えていない。
逆に、
少しブレていたり、
構図が完璧じゃなかったり、
誰かに見せたら何でもない写真なのに、
その時の空気とか、
声とか、
自分が何を感じていたのかまで
思い出せる写真があります。
昔は、
上手く撮ることが
写真を続ける理由になると思っていました。
でも最近は、
「何を感じてシャッターを切ったのか」
の方が大事なのかもしれないと思っています。
見栄えのいい写真が悪いわけじゃない。
ただ、
見栄えだけが写真を撮る理由になってしまったら、
少し寂しいなって
上手く撮れなくても、
誰かに評価されなくても、
「あの瞬間、撮りたいと思った」
その気持ちまで残せるのが、
写真のいいところなのかもしれません。
だから最近は、
綺麗に撮れたかよりも、
「自分は、なぜこれを撮りたかったんだろう」
そんなことを少しだけ
考えるようになりました🤏
結局いつも同じ焦点距離で撮ってませんか？📷
僕も気づいたら50mm付近ばかり使ってしまうことがあります。
でも24-70mmの面白さは、
その場から動かずズームすることより、
焦点距離によって写真の見せ方を変えられること。
僕の場合はざっくり、
24〜35mm
→ 周りの景色まで入れて、その場所の空気感を残す。
少し近づけば、広角らしい迫力のあるポートレートにも。
40〜50mm
→ 人物と背景のバランスを取りたいとき。
見た印象に近い自然な距離感で撮りやすい。
60〜70mm
→ 背景を整理して人物をしっかり見せたいとき。
余計なものを入れたくない場所でも使いやすい。
そして意外と好きなのが、
24mmまで引いて、思い切って人物に近づく撮り方。
普通に立って撮るだけでは出にくい遠近感が生まれて、
同じ場所でも写真の雰囲気を変えられます。
「ズームレンズ＝動かなくていい」ではなく、
自分も動きながら焦点距離を変えてみる。
これだけでも24-70mm一本で、
写真のバリエーションはかなり増えると思います◎
