「普段、見ている視線のまま、望遠で撮ってみよう」
ライカ共同開発によるカメラ、とくに5倍光学望遠レンズが特徴とのことで、「どんなふうに撮れるんだろう？」という興味からスタートしました。
5倍望遠は115mm。普段、使わない焦点距離なので、最初は「115mmに合わせて写真を撮ろう」と考えていました。でも撮影を続けるうちに、少し違う気がしてきました。
そこで、自分が自然と目を向けたものを、そのままの流れで撮ることにしました。
椅子に座ったまま窓辺の花瓶を撮ったり、妻が川へ投げた石がつくる波紋を撮ったり、車窓から見えた山々を撮ったり。
なかでも印象に残っているのは、洗い物をしようと思ってキッチンへ立ったときのことです。鍋に浮かんでいたコップがふと目に入り、何気なく一枚撮影しました。ところが、その光景がだんだん面白く感じられてきて、気づけば位置を少しずつ変えながら何十枚も撮影していました。
自分にとっての「愛おしさ」とは、特別な景色ではなく、日々のなかで自然と目に入っているものなのかもしれません。

つい最近、嬉しかったことがあります。自分の掌蹠多汗症の経験が、少しでも誰かの役に立てたことです。
以前、撮影でご一緒した方のお子様がこの症状を抱えており、ご相談を受けました。僕自身が経験してきたことや、手術についてなど、なるべくまとめてお伝えしました。
「まとめて」と言いつつ、結局8,000文字ぐらいになってしまったのですが。
改めて、自分の人生のなかで切り離すことのできないもののひとつが、掌蹠多汗症なのだなと思いました。今もなお、自分の行動や考え方の軸にあるのだと思います。
これからはより一層、写真活動や発信を通して、日本での掌蹠多汗症の認知度を少しでも広げていけたらと思っています。
残りの人生も頑張るぞ！

実はもう随分前から写真を使っていただくことは決まっていたのですが、コロナの影響で延期。山本文緒さんのファンの方はもちろんのこと、僕も待ち遠しくてたまりませんでした。
少しだけウラ話をさせてください。
山本文緒さんが8月13日のツイートでこのように言っていただいています。
『写真の女の子、「あーもー忙しくて目がまわる～」って感じじゃないですか？』
この文を読んだとき、妙に納得してしまって、自分が撮ったにも関わらず「なるほどな」と思ってしまいました。
2019年の9月に撮影したこの写真は当時の自分の編集技術も甘く、今の自分が見たら直したい部分がありました。
最初に写真を提出したあとも「やっぱり手直しさせていただこうかな……」とずっと悩んでいました。モデルになった、まみちゃんの肌の色、そして手摺のゆがみなどなど。
でも、山本文緒さんのこのツイートを読んだとき、「このままでいこう」と決心しました。
少し青白い肌のほうが、目が回ってる感じが伝わるし、手摺のゆがみもそう。そのままのほうがタイトルでもある「自転しながら公転する」という名前に合っていると思いました。
"写真は技術じゃないから"
つい最近見た、写真家 中野正貴さんの動画で中野さんの師匠 秋元 茂さんが言った言葉。
当時の僕が技術に頼りすぎていたら、もしかしたら声をかけてもらえなかったかもしれません。本当に写真って不思議です。
山本文緒先生。改めまして、新刊発売、おめでとうございます。書籍表紙に写真を使っていただいたことは、僕の写真人生において大きな励みであり、宝物です。
