I had gone to see Kaya’s art at the Petit. It was a couple of weeks after my father’s passing. As I stopped and took in each piece, one stood out. It was dark, it wasn’t pretty. It felt intense but I was drawn to it.
“Which one is your favorite?” He asked.
I showed him the one Titled “ Thoughts Unvoiced”
He was kinda shocked that’s the one I picked. He asked why.
I told him “ Because even though I might look pretty on the outside, this is how I feel on the inside “
He joked and said “ What did your boyfriend die?”
