»We want to transfer Wagner's soundscapes into a modern context – I have in mind an urban, technoid, dubby sound that will be dark and mysterious – just like Wagner's reinterpreted stories from the medieval Nibelungenlied,« says Anja Schneider. The Felsenreitschule will once again serve as the ideal location for the electronic event – the same stage on which director Kirill Serebrennikov's new production of »Der Ring des Nibelungen« will open the 2026 festival with »Das Rheingold.«
This space, in combination with Schneider's DJ set and Sven Marquardt's visuals, is intended to become a total experience. To this end, the Berlin photographer has created works specifically for the occasion – as dark and atmospheric as the sound. »I am particularly excited about creating a bridge between festival tradition and club aesthetics,« says Marquardt, whose works have always reflected his fascination with the theme of »night.«
