With all the shifts and changes happening in the world, one might ask how do you continue as an artist in times of great unsettling grief? I often think of my ancestors and those before me who used their imagination, creativity, and intuitive instincts to birth life during dark times. Their codes of resilience is in my veins and it generates life within me to keep creating art in these times of collective unraveling.
Here’s a few recent sketches from my digital drawing journal.
Growing up in Richmond Virginia, there was little to no immigrant population but somehow I managed to find friends who were Russian, Dominican, Salvadoran, Korean, Mexican, and Japanese.
That curiosity and appreciation follows me today as a visual artist and cultural story-teller.
Art On Adventure is a project I’ve been dreaming of for over 5 years. A vision that has stayed with me on my travels around the world as I’ve realized the transcendent power of art and how universally it preserves culture, history, identity and language across humanity.
You are witnessing the VERY early stages of this concept I am building to amplify the voices of artists, artisans, craft makers, and creators around the world.
Sharing their stories. Their histories. Their cultural traditions. And the way art can connect us deeper to ourselves and one another.

Its been a roller coaster ride for sure! A series of extreme ups and downs, exhilarating loops, dizzying twists, and unexpected turns. Ultimately it was a ride that matured me with some crucial lessons and extraordinary experiences that have freed me from the limitations that kept me bound for years prior. I exhibited my art work at The Brooklyn Museum, climbed the top of the Andes Mountains, became a full-time artist/creator, trekked through the uncharted territory of my shadowed self, rediscovered my true self/nature, made new friends with beautiful souls from different parts of the world, conquered long held fears/anxieties, studied new cultures/languages, and so much more. As grueling as the process of growth has been the past few years- I am immensely grateful. As I am still actively navigating how to find grounding through the shifts and shake-ups of life - I know that the love within me and around me helps to keep my feet planted and my head high. I honestly don’t know how I would have made it through without incredible friends and a remarkable and compassionate lover. May the years ahead bring us all justice, peace, prosperity, tranquility, and a renewed sense of connection to our souls purpose and our humanity. With gratitude, SUPERWAXX

This year marked the first year where I’ve beta tested running a series of limited prints. It’s been a practice and a process to learn the ins and outs of launching prints as a way to create art that is accessible for art collectors of all demographics. THE BRA!DED GIRL print series is a series that started as a drawing study of braided hair and reflection on hair braiding as a spiritual and cultural practice. Across continents, cultures, and generations- hair braiding is not only a means of expressing style but also expressing connection to the spiritual world.
This is an ongoing and growing series that I am excited to continue building upon. In celebration of this year being the launch for the series, I’m releasing another print edition of this series to wrap this momentous year. Go visit

Honestly, I’ve been navigating through many different internal and external obstacles that feel like a ultimate training ground for my evolution as an artist. I’ve been processing feelings of grief and gratitude simultaneously relating to my journey over the past few years. Learning to forgive myself and offer grace to the parts of me that choose to sideline my desires as an artist to satisfy the desires of others who had no respect or sincere appreciation for my artistic magic. By nature I am a highly creative and gracious person and there have been moments where I’ve over extended myself in an attempt to share my gifts in support of others. Only to awaken to the harsh reality that they were only interested in extracting for their benefit. Those heavy pours were draining me and NOT replenishing me. When I finally came to my senses and returned to sip from my own well of creativity- I found myself artistically depleted and depressed. Major ouch!
In reflection and retrospect to where I am now, I think that it’s a lesson I needed to learn to truly understand my power as a creative being. I now understand fully how precious of a resource my creative and artistic abilities are. Through exploring the world and experimenting with new art forms, I’ve gradually found my way back home to myself. Traveling throughout Central and South America has been medicinal in the healing process. It’s been reigniting my sense of wonder. It’s providing me with clarity and remembering of who I am, where I am, and who I’m meant to be. Restoring my sense of self value and spiritual values. I am now an artist that creates with more consciousness, intentionality, and awareness about how I offer my magical gifts. For that reason, I am choosing to be grateful for that experience. All parts of it because it’s lead me to be the creative, connected and conscious spirit I am today.
