He told me he was 82โฆ or maybe 84 โ he laughed when he said it. I photographed him in the water and on land, and posted a few images of him then. Iโm heading back to that location today, I wanted to find one frame that felt like him to do as a portrait shot.
He doesnโt dive the same spots all year. He rotates his locations to protect the ocean, so when he returns there is still life to gather.
Each morning he rides his bicycle to the sea, free dives all day for octopus and shellfish, then cycles to the port to sell his catch.
Heโs done this his entire life.
He doesnโt remember when he started.
Still diving.
Still working.
Still in love with the sea.
An absolute inspiration.
