What drives artists to collaborate with others?

Over the last months, and I set out to find an answer to this seemingly simple question — or rather, answers. Because, as we quickly realised, personal motivation varies greatly from person to person and is as individual as a fingerprint.

For us, the creative environment of Icelandic composer Ólafur Arnalds and his, where creative collaboration has been in the DNA from the very beginning, was the perfect biotope for conducting in-depth personal conversations with extraordinary artists and turning them into a film (which we shot in Reykjavik, Mosfellsbær, and Selfoss in Iceland, as well as in Berlin).

And so, over the course of a few weeks, we created a 20-minute piece that we consider to be a short cinematic essay: a conversation with and among a total of nine interview partners who allow us a glimpse not only into their studios, but also into their hearts.

We would like to express our deepest gratitude to,,,,,,,, and for placing their trust in us – and also to Ólafur’s team, especially, who made this wonderful adventure possible.

Love,

Max & Jonas

Actor Clemens Schick recently visited me in my studio. We had a three-hour session and talked extensively about photography and what makes a good picture.
When you start saying what’s on your mind, you begin to open your heart. And in a world where words are often used like daggers, opening your heart can lead to unexpected places.

Yet when art truly comes from within, it gives you the strength to face the constant scepticism of the mind and the darkness that seems to befall us gradually but relentlessly.

I’m thankful for all the challenges life keeps throwing my way — in its most unexpected and testing forms. They’ve taught me, and keep teaching me, that every day is an opportunity: to live fully, to feel beyond comprehension, to create and to think without borders.

And I want to thank YOU all, for being part of this journey ❤️‍🔥
