🇩🇪 Volkswagen Käfer. One blue, one orange.

Spotted by my brother in Istanbul, Turkey’s largest city. Apparently, there are still plenty of them driving around.

The Käfer is Volkswagen’s most iconic car, maybe even one of the most recognisable cars ever built. Almost everyone has a story involving one, whether they owned one themselves or someone in their family did.

Few cars have undergone a transformation quite like the Käfer. Created during one of Germany’s darkest chapters, it later became a symbol of the “Wirtschaftswunder” and in the 1960s of peace, freedom and the hippie movement.

🇬🇧 Land Rover Series II. Summer on 4 wheels.

Name another car that can fit six people while being shorter than a modern Golf. Which has a 3.5-liter V8. Which is in this incredible mint condition.

You probably can’t.

This Land Rover Series II V8 is everything a summer cruiser should be. No roof, no unnecessary technology just the sound of a V8, room for your friends, and endless fun.

Man, there are just so many cars out there I want to own…this being definitely one of them!

Probs to the camerman
🇯🇵 Nissan Pathfinder II. Unicorn on German streets.

Today’s upload comes from Germany’s capital, Berlin. A second generation Nissan Pathfinder, don’t know if have ever seen one on German roads.

Lucky for me, a friend took a picture of it, so I can tell you some nerdy facts about it. I think this is a facelift, but I’m not entirely sure. Everything else is nothing special: 4-wheel drive, gasoline (very thirsty) or diesel engines and moderate power.

Due to the high fuel consumption, it sold really bad in Europe.

Looks cool with these chrome bars!

🇫🇷 Citroën XM. 90’s charme.

We write the year 1989. Shortly before the Berlin Wall came down, Citroën introduced the XM on the IAA in Frankfurt. And what a success it became.

Car of the year 1990, best import car in Germany, the list of awards goes on and on. The Germans just loved the XM, the French (of course) even more.

Best feature? The hydro pneumatic suspension, an absolute magnificent piece of engineering. Supposedly the most comfortable suspension of all time, I want to experience it!

Seriously, if someone out there has one and would take me for a drive someday, it would be very much appreciated!

Until then, cheers guys.

🇩🇪 Audi S2 Coupé. Me likey.

S2’s are seriously rare cars, however here in the city are two examples I have spotted quite regularly. A red one with white wheels and this here, in an adorable green.

And while the red one is tuned a bit, this here is completely stock. I prefer this tbh! Parked in front of the Volksgarten, the S2 Coupé is one of the coolest and rarest Audi’s out there.

Produced from 1990 until 1995, only 7.370 examples were built, all of them powered by THE Audi engine: The legendary 2.2-Liter 5-cylinder turbo with 230 horsepower and 350 nm of torque. And we all know what these engines are capable of…

🇮🇹 Fiat 500. Piccolo Italiano.

Gorgeous, just gorgeous. That’s the first thing that comes to my mind when I see that car. The Cinquecento belongs to Italy like Pizza and Pasta!

You still see a lot of them driving around in Italy, but also in Munich you will find the occasional example driving around on a sunny summer weekend.

The technical features are just as funny. 14 to 22 horsepower, 2.97 meters long and a weight of 500 kg. Definitely not a race car!

🇬🇧 MGB GT. Universal classic.

If you are in the market for a 70’s Oldtimer, built in the UK and you don’t want to spend a fortune on it, go out and buy that MG. These are really cool for the money!

And this one especially. A MGB GT, on original Viennese plates, designed by none other than Pininfarina, finished in the best color for this type of car: British Racing Green.

I would go for the roadster tbh, but the GT offers a larger boot and space for 4 people (if the passengers in the back happen to don’t have legs). But I think space and passenger capacity are irrelevant if you are in the market for one of these.

It’s emotion, heritage and passion, all the things you connect with driving an Oldtimer from the island.

🇬🇧 Range Rover. Why get one when you can have three?

I always loved and always will love these cars. German SUVs aren’t bad, don’t get me wrong, but these are simply a bit higher up the food chain.

There’s just something about a Range Rover. The driving position, the elegance, the ability to drive across a muddy field one minute and pull up outside a five-star hotel in London the next. Few cars manage to combine luxury, comfort and off-road capability quite like these British statements.

No matter how good the competition gets, a Range Rover will always have a certain aura that’s hard to replicate.

🇩🇪 Porsche 924. Transaxle Porsche.

Transaxle? What is this guy taking about? Let me explain. You guys will all know the Porsche 911, and (probably) know that it has the engine in the back. A Transaxle car is constructed differently.

Here the engine sits in the front and the transmission in the back. But why? Simple answer, to get a better weight distribution and therefore a better handling. But enough with this technical gibberish!

The 924 is one of these cars that’s uses a transaxle construction. Back in the day, a lot of Porsche enthusiasts said that these are no real Porsches, due to their parts from the Volkswagen Group.

I think that is not true. They are cool looking cars, and nowadays they start to get really popular. While 911 prices are always high, you can (still) pick up one of these for a reasonable price.

🇩🇪 Audi R8. First super car from Ingolstadt.

The first Generationen Audi R8 is based on the study “Le Mans Quattro”, which was unveiled to the public on the IAA 2003. Customers had to wait until 2006 to buy their own R8.

The first ones, like this one here, came with the famous 4.2-Liter naturally aspirated V8 with 420 horsepower. Love these cars, they are so timeless! Who would think that the first gen R8 celebrates his 20th birthday this year?

Don’t know the name of the color, but it looks sick! Probably an Audi exclusive paint job, what makes this R8 even cooler than it already is!
